Zimmerman, God, and Whitey

I have tried to stay pretty much out of the whole Zimmerman business.  I kept my peace when I was basically told any black death is an unjustified murder, anything done to blacks is because white America is evil, and if a black does anything to a white person, it is karmic payback.

But you know something?  I just read an article that draws the line for me.

Associate Professor at the U of Pennsylvania Anthea Butler posted a story on her blog called The Zimmerman Acquittal:  America's Racist God.  If you have nothing better to do, you can read it here.  If not, let me hit the "high points" for them.

Let us start with the semi-ridiculous beginning of her claim:

God ain’t good all of the time. In fact, sometimes, God is not for us. As a black woman in a nation that has taken too many pains to remind me that I am not a white man, and am not capable of taking care of my reproductive rights, or my voting rights, I know that this American god ain’t my god. As a matter of fact, I think he’s a white racist god with a problem. More importantly, he is carrying a gun and stalking young black men.

So, once again, we have man blaming his failures on God.  Much like our Rabbi a couple days ago, there has to be a way to escape the blame for our own problems.  Lady, you have a problem with the political system.  Maybe you have a reason- but seeings as you have all those degrees and a nice Ivy League job, I kinda wonder.  Either way, there's no such thing as an "American god."

When George Zimmerman told Sean Hannity that it was God’s will that he shot and killed Trayvon Martin, he was diving right into what most good conservative Christians in America think right now. Whatever makes them protected, safe, and secure, is worth it at the expense of the black and brown people they fear.
Their god is the god that wants to erase race, make everyone act “properly” and respect, as the president said, “a nation of laws”; laws that they made to crush those they consider inferior.

Point #1 here- I don't recall God making George Zimmerman His spokesman.  There is a lot of people out there talking about God's will- especially when it involves something happening that they don't like.  Point #2- I would like to posit that Anthea Butler doesn't speak for "most good conservative Christians" and what they want, either.  The things that make me feel safe, protected, and secure have nothing to do with the color of anybody.  And they do not cost black America- or her- one red cent.  Point #3- "Laws made to crush those they consider inferior"... Which laws would that be?  The ones that allow me to defend myself if a black "man" wants to steal what I worked for?  The laws that put you in jail for robbery, rape, murder?  Ms. Butler, right now the only thing I consider inferior on you is your intellect.

The lamentation of the African-American community at yet another injustice, the surprise and disgust of others who understand, stand against this pseudo-god of capitalisms and incarceration that threaten to take over our nation.

Ah, the communist sheds her skin.  Why are your people incarcerated?  They commit crimes.  Why do they commit crimes?  To get money.  Why do they want money?  Because it makes the "world turn".  Why don't they have money?  Why not?  You have money, Professor Butler.  How did you get it?  You WORKED for it.  Thus, they have as good as shot as you did to get a job and make something of themselves.  Why do they commit crimes?  BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT TO WORK.

Is this ALL blacks?  Of course not.  After all, you, Professor Butler are evidence of that.  Was Trayvon Martin working?  I don't know.  It certainly seems that drugs and sex were higher up the list for him... as well as class envy.  Why else be somewhere that something like this could happen?

Professor Butler, you come into this with a large chip/chips on your shoulder.  You won't be happy till all your people have what white people do... I have no problem with that.  You have it, and you worked for it; but you'd rather yell at whitey to give "your people" what you worked for for free than yell at them to get up and work for it like you did.  Where along the line did you strip your hard work of all its positives, in order to manufacture a poison that you spread to your readers and-presumably- your students?

When the laws were never made for people who were considered, constitutionally, to be three-fifths of a person, I have to ask: Is this just? Is it right?

When the good Christians of America are some of its biggest racists, one has to consider our moral responsibility to call out those who clearly are not for human flourishing, no matter what ethnicity a person is.

And how GOOD of you to forget that it was those good white racist Christians that risked life and limb to help slaves escape their masters, who fought in the public square to repeal fugitive slave laws, who fought to win freedom for the mutineers on the Amistad.  John Brown gave his life trying to win black freedom with force- and failed when none of the blacks he was fighting for got off their asses to HELP.  HOW DARE YOU criticize Christians when they were doing the job for you when you couldn't?  Oh, well that was then, this is now right?  Well let me add from your blog's comment session something which. while you didn't say it, was woven through your entire post:

How can you not expect these kinds of feelings when we as white people, OWNED black people not 160 years ago.

It works both ways, Professor.  You are wrong about Christians, and you are wrong about God, and you are wrong about me.  You are so blinded by hatred over a racism that you should have overcome that you cannot see objectively, and so confused by your liberal training that you have know idea about faith or God, both of which have nothing to do with religion.

    I agree. Excellent post.

  2. You stumbled across a hate group masquerading as something else. No amount of logic, discussion or anything else can help them - EXCEPT Divinity. Only the Lord can get rid of the hate and give them peace.

If you haven't seen it, check Jeremiah Wright's sermon about God and America. This is the man who was Obama's pastor for years. What kind of man do you think Obama really is?

Do you really think Anthea Butler is a Christian? Jeremiah Wright? President Obama? Because I don't. You can tell a Christian by the life they lead.

    1. Unfortunately, that hate group is in control of our universities, our TVs, our schools. It's called liberal elitism.

Butler never claims to be a Christian (Unlike the others you mention). However, she is a associate Prof of "Religious Studies" which apparently is just an academic curtain for atheism. And yes, I know about Wright. They are all a part of a group that is anti-American- I don't know why they are, but I know it has little to do with the ideas they "espouse". Butler showed her communist side. But the problem is, if I may be ironic, explained in an old song called "Master Jack":

"You tie up all your problems, and make them look neat/ and then you sell them to the people in the street..."

  3. Chris:
I can tell it's sure NOT the UofP that I remember from younger days...!

And perhaps if some blacks (definitely NOT ALL) didn't provide a REASON for this "fear factor", we'd ALL be getting along a lot better...like when I was growing up and PLAYED with black children.

This was during those riotous days of the Civil Rights movement to boot, and as schoolkids, we didn't know what that was any more than we knew what sub-atomic particle acceleration was.
(I'm still working on that 2nd one)

We also went to CHURCH together, and even though the area was predominantly WHITE, there was none of the racial angst that's being fostered today by libtard whites AND blacks.

Tunnel-vision on this professor's part is NO way to go through life...it's more like EXISTING than living, in fact.

    Talk about a MOTE in one's eye...Geez!
(matches the redwood on her shoulder nicely.)

    Excellent post and comments.

Stay safe (and keep cool) up there

  4. You know when someone starts an argument using the word "ain't" there is not going to be a lot of intelligence following, no matter what the degree. I agree with you completely.

On a legal stand point, it's funny because I look at the verdict from another view - the prosecution simply didn't prove their case to the standard required by what they charged him. Second-degree murder required more than what they proved. As did manslaughter. They did the same thing in the Casey Anthony case. I don't doubt she did it, but they simply didn't prove their case. They rushed to try the case too quickly before getting their ducks in a row. Bad lawyer move, in my opinion.

Sorry - totally went off on a tangent....

    1. Actually you were dead on point. The prosecution, whether from lack of resources, evidence, or competence, simply didn't prove it. What pisses me off is these idiots that think that those facts should be trumped by Trayvon being black. Otherwise, I'd have never said anything that you didn't just say.

  5. One thing I guess I should address further is this statement which has been called into question privately:

"... Was Trayvon Martin working? I don't know. It certainly seems that drugs and sex were higher up the list for him... as well as class envy. Why else be somewhere that something like this could happen?"

While I believe that this IS America, and we SHOULD be able to be where ever we choose, I am also a realist and would not be caught on, say, East Creighton after dark. Because I would be just daring something to happen. In a perfect world, where nobody has racial chips on their shoulders, Trayvon could have went down that area with no problem. I'm not questioning his rights here, but his judgment. And was I questioning whether he was worse than the normal teenager morally? No, I was pointing out that there is as much "evidence" for his being a "thug" as there is for Zimmerman being a "racist". I have not and will not make a judgment on guilt or innocence there, because if a jury that was presented all the evidence couldn't convict, neither can I who was not. I can, however, judge the knee jerk reactions of reverse-racists and agenda-driven media. And will.

  6. Why is she complaining about Whitey?

    Isn't Zimmerman Hispanic?

Doesn't Whitey hate the Hispanics, too? If that's changed, someone forgot to send me the memo.

Or maybe, only a small percentage of whites are prejudiced, which means that Ms. Butler, with her generalizations about whites, is doing the EXACT SAME THING she is accusing whites of.

She needs to decide whether she wants blog readers or to change the world, because that brand of writing, while it may get her core readership riled up, certainly is not positive.

And isn't it interesting how Ms. Butler does not seem to mind black-on-black or black-on-white violence?

Apparently it's just the once-every-two-decades story like this that is a problem for blacks.

As in every group of people, some people make things happen, some people watch things happen (and then blog about it).

Ms. Butler could be in a position to effect change, but instead she appears to prefer perpetuating racial tension.

    1. Not only does she generalize about whites, but about Christians as well. And you are correct about her preference to ignore the truth of murder stats. Without the numbers in front of me (maybe Bobby G. can help here), I am guessing in Fort Wayne this year the murders are about 22 to 3 in favor of black killing black.

The fact that, as you said, she could be changing the world by focusing on how she got where she was, and is instead focusing on her chip on the shoulder, is the sad thing here.

  8. >>... The lamentation of the African-American community at yet another injustice, the surprise and disgust of others who understand, stand against this pseudo-god of capitalisms

She completely gave herself away with that last word. Every time they attack "Capitalism" - (never mind that the USA has not enjoyed Free-Enterprise Capitalism since the creation of The Fed in 1913) - it's like a confession: "I am a communist."

As I was reading along, I decided to jump all over her remark when I got to the comment section at the bottom. But then, BROTHER MARTIN, your very next statement was: "Ah, the communist sheds her skin."

    You stole my thunder.

You nailed it spot-on and, honestly, there's nothing else to see here. All the rest of her rambling rantings are window dressing for the simple fact that she is a communist doing what communists do: inciting mindless, unreasonable, intellectually-retarded violence in order to destroy the old world and build the new Communist utopia. Pshaw!

Aside from all the circumstantial evidence, the fact that this woman is a university professor in 2013 is all any intelligent person should need to know in order to determine that she is a crypto communist. "They" don't let any other kinds of professors teach our children.

Excellent analysis, CW. Thanks for calling my attention to it.

POSTSCRIPT: Tomorrow, you should have the caps I sent. I deliberately bought a Polish import called Zywieck, just for the cap (even though I figured I wouldn't like it, and I was right), with the hope that I would be providing you with the last letter "Z" cap in your collection. (Is there any beer name that comes after the letters "Zy"?)

    1. "...doing what communists do: inciting mindless, unreasonable, intellectually-retarded violence in order to destroy the old world and build the new Communist utopia..." I'll be using that for a definition someday soon...

You can't help but see "communist" in a tirade having a derogatory reference to capitalism when capitalism isn't even in the subject matter. Scrappy would've sniffed it out.

Thank you for the caps! As far as my collection goes, the lowest alphabetically is Zibert. Maybe somewhere there is a "ZZZZZ" beer- for those who want to get right to passing out.

    Yeah, probably so! :-)

Ha! I was pretty sure Zywieck had to hit the bottom of the list. "Zyw" is hard to get under unless, like you said, someone decided to play with Zs.

Your "ZZZZZ" remark inspired the following idea in me:

Some brewing company should market a beer called "SPINAL TAP". (Then some bars could offer "Spinal Tap" on tap.) And the brewer could make the Alcohol By Volume content eleven percent. Then they could advertise the beer as "Spinal Tap... it goes up to eleven!"

I think I'm in the wrong bidnizz.
