What is it about nice people that attract total idiots?Nice people are martyrs. Idiots are evangelists.

It's beginning to look a little like springtime...

49.5 degrees that felt a lot more like 55...

This morning I was afraid to slip on ice.  This afternoon, I had to change to a lighter coat.

The one problem was the stretches of "open water" we had to cross...

Bunches of robins... BIG FAT robins.  They didn't suffer this off season.

One intelligent thing I noted earlier (but didn't photograph due to hypothermia) was that the city only plowed enough of California Rd to let a bicycler or jogger down.  Wonder what we can do to make that year-round?

Almost as many woodies out as robins and geese.

River's still a bit chunky...

This was actually 3 or 4 inches deep.  The one crossing I actually got wet at.

The bluebird of happiness drops by again.

First ducks, getting busy early...

Yeah, it's a lot of white and gray, but a day like this just makes it more colorful.

  2. I guess you don't want to hear that it hit 87 degrees here yesterday and might hit 90 tomorrow....

  3. It was like you took me along for the walk - awesome! Our snow is gone and I can't believe I see green. Tennessee weather is crazy; and I came here thinking it was more moderate. Wacko weather followed me here.

    1. Should have went with me today- then you could have fell in the mud and found a bloated muskrat.

  4. Chris:
Those are some great pics...glad to see GROUND under that snow...lol.
Scrappy looks like he was having a very good time, too.
    AND...a BLUEBIRD.
You got us beat hands down when it comes to wildlife.

Have yet to see any robins yet...but hopeful.

    Stay safe up there, brother.

  5. I object to "Big Fat Robins." Just sayin'. I might've gained weight over these winter months, but I ALSO suffered. Not mutually exclusive events at all!!!!!

  7. I acme home from lunch with the kids (they had a half day today) and tried to free up some of the 2 inches of ice and snow still on the front walk and couldn't. I went in, took a two hour nap (yeah!!) came out to bring them to basketball and saw it was down to cobblestone. :) You know, when everyone else was saying we'd be still digging out in May, I said No! It will be gone by Easter. here's hoping I'm right.

Thankfully, our meltdown has been slow and steady... 28-49 degrees each day, 20's at night to slow the process. So far no major flooding issues. I was however down on the beach today and the havoc it reaped was/is nearly unimaginable.
