Meanwhile, around the house...

I don't really have the energy for a really good post, so I'm just going to chat about things.

Day two of week two of ten hour days, and it was all I could do to take Scrappy for a meaningful walk this afternoon.  For his part, he celebrated by getting into a mud bog in which he sank up to his weenie.  Tried to pull me into it, too.  Now he's trying to convince me to give him his nightly treats a half hour early.  Yes, he is SOOO neglected.

Yesterday, a starling decided to come into the plant.  Our maintenance guy tried to shoo him out, but he decided to go the other way, directly into a furnace bulkhead, and thence down to land on the inspection table, directly between our inspector and the new lady on her first day that she was training.  I'm thinking that his prognosis wasn't good.

Reminded me of a Saturday working at my old job.  I was on the back dock when I heard the sound of a flock of geese.  Honk, honk, honk, CRASH! Honnnnnnnnnnn..... One of them flew into a closed dock door.  Kinda sounded like Scrappy groaning behind me.

Yes, I've heard all the wonderful news from Baltimore.  I wonder if they care what jackasses they look like in front of the whole nation.  Say what you will about the Occupy idiots, at least the worst they did was make a mess that could be bagged up and peed on a few buildings.  Not trying to be prejudicial, but every time the black community has a legit (or semi-legit) beef to protest about, it seems half the race says, "Party time," and it becomes thug family reunion.

On FB, I was just as delicate.  A local TV station posted the question, "Newsroom Question of the Day: The city of Baltimore has erupted as protests over the death of Freddie Gray have taken a turn for the worse.
A State of Emergency has been declared in the city due to the outbreak of mob-like violence.
What are your thoughts about the situation?"  I answered, "Incendiaries would be a good start."

In other news, I just got word from a woman I dearly love that she had to make a choice between unbearable pain and unbearable nightmares- AKA taking Lyrica.  To say she is wasted from pain and burdened with what it has cost her family is understating it.  She has fought this hard to see her youngest daughter go to prom, to graduate.  Her husband has made every sacrifice needed, and it kills her.  Any prayers would be appreciated.

Happier news, I think tomorrow I'll try to put together the second half of the A to Z Scrappy mash.  Tune in then!

  1. I read something that made a lot of sense re: Baltimore thugs. Have the police fire tranquilizer darts into crowds of rioters. Won't happen, but that would be epic!

    1. I still favor incendiaries. Just as much fun, and you can do s'mores after.

  2. I feel like a six year old because I'm still laughing at "he sank up to his weenie." You found the fountain of youth.

    1. I laughed at him, too. We are just a couple of old broken down codgers that make each other laugh, me and Scrappy.

  3. Hugs and prayers to you and your friend, Chris.
Keep your chin up or lean on Scrappy. Or both.

  4. My blood boils on the Baltimore situation. We have Nepal being devastated and in desperate need of stores, etc. Then we have Baltimore willingly destroying their city.
Give Scrappy a treat will ya!
Praying for your friend for peace, healing and wisdom.

    1. I'm with you. Also having seen some of the Jason LaCanfora tweets about the good that was also happening, I blame most of this squarely on the media.

  5. I've heard a few horror stories about Lyrica. Another on a long long list of drugs that really make you wonder if the side effects are worth it. Hope your friend is ok.

    1. Back in high school, the seniors (not my class) caught a bunch of birds and let them loose in the gym. They sent in our cross-eyed maintenance man (I am not lying) to try and shoot them with a bb gun.
