Playing Newspage Go!

I don't have or want a smartphone, and have better things to do with my time than play the newest fad, Pokemon Go!  However, I noticed that cruising the FoxNews page this afternoon was a lot like it, in the odd variety of "Pokes" I caught.  For example:

Poke 1:  A lot of press given to the numbnuts who changed the words to a national anthem- being sung at the Baseball All-Star Game- to promote "All Lives Matter".  Even such a well performed event- a day when baseball did the right thing for once and named the AL and NL batting championship trophies after Rod Carew and Tony Gwynn- and some idiot with an agenda- no matter what it was, thought his need for self-expression to be greater than respect to the song he was performing and its meaning.  If all you can do to show that life matters is f up a song and hold up a sign, buddy, as Stevie would say, You Haven't Done Nothing...

Poke 2:  "“As we all know political platforms are meaningless. But once again it shows how terribly out of touch the Republican Party is..."  And what would that be?  Why according to Steven Hirsch, founder/co-chairman of porn purveyor Vivid Entertainment, it is the attempt to put an anti-porn plank in the GOP platform.  Excuse me, but I missed the memo where we were supposed to accept an industry that leads to the exploitation of women and children of all ages, and damages families and lives, because it is now acceptable to "society at large".  Or maybe I didn't.  I can't wait to see Bernie nail in the "dirty old man" plank to the democrat platform.  If Hirsch really feels he promotes a safe and harmless hobby, he should read this book by a friend of mine.

Poke 3:  This is what the anti-police BS being whipped up by the media and Black Lives Matter has come to:

HOMESTEAD, Pa. —A group of policemen from Homestead and Whitaker, eating at a Waterfront restaurant, paid a couple's bill after the couple made it obvious they didn't want to sit by the officers on Saturday.

"A table goes to sit down and the guy looks over at one of the police officers and was like, 'Nah I don’t want to sit here.' So they got moved completely opposite, away from the police officers," said Eat N' Park server Jesse Meyers.

Homestead police Officer Chuck Thomas said it was obvious the man and woman didn't want to anything to do with the police officers.

"I looked over and said, 'It's okay sir. You won't have to worry about it, we won't hurt you," Thomas said. "He looked at me hard again and said he’s not sitting here and walked away."

So if the police were as evil and mean and petty as what BLM thinks- or this family thought- they might have been expecting to be pulled over after their meal.  So what did they get after their meal?

Yup, the cops PAID for their meal- and gave a tip prolly bigger than the one they would have given themselves, judging from their mean spirit.

You see here's the point- division, especially carefully cloaked racism such as BLM, makes a-holes of all of us.

Poke 4:  But wait, shouldn't we stereotype?  For security's sake?

A would-be robber found one New Zealand eatery hard to digest after he pulled a gun on its steely owner who didn't flinch when staring at the barrel of the gun.

The Guardian reported that Said Ahmed tried to maintain his composure when confronted by the gunman. After seeing the gun, Ahmed continued to prepare a large order of chicken souvlaki for takeout and handed it to a paying customer who walked quickly out of the store.

“The man wanted to frighten me and I decided he couldn’t do that,” Ahmed told The Guardian. The store's video of the encounter shows Ahmed handing the customer the order, and turning to walk into the kitchen to call police.

Ahmed, a born Egyptian but 20 year Kiwi, simply didn't give in to fear.  The idiot with the gun left with nothing.

Poke 5:  Fox got an exclusive interview with a ISIS fighter captured by the Kurds.  His name Jamal, he has supposedly broken the spell Daesh had on him and now has a better grip on reality:

“At the beginning, ISIS told us we would all go to heaven,” Jamel said, speaking under the watchful eyes of Kirkuk police guards. “But now that I am in prison it means I am going to the fire. I am going to hell.”

So lemme get this straight:  you would have been just fine, cruising on to those 97 virgins or whatever, had you NOT been caught, but since you GOT caught, now you are going to hell?  No wonder the Kurds don't buy his "conversion":

“When they are arrested they try to say they are no longer with ISIS, but most of the time it is not true,” Kirkuk Police Brig. Gen. Sarhad Qader Mohammad told FoxNews.com.  Basically, "We've heard it all before."

“Everything was about setting the role of Shariah [Islamic law],” he said. “We have to have a world based on Shariah....We were told that yes, people here are Muslims, but they are not the right Muslims,” he said.

And once all the non-Muslims are killed, and all the wrong Muslims are killed, who will you have to kill then?  Or what reason will they give for killing you?

Poke 6:  I just loved this headline:

Obscure case involving Obama, NJ limo driver sends shockwaves through Albania

Basics:  Obama gets a $80,000 campaign contribution from an Albanian-American chauffeur.  Big deal?  Well...

On paper, New Jersey chauffeur driver Bilal Shehu was a big donor to President Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign, ponying up $80,000 for he and his wife to attend an exclusive fundraiser in San Francisco.

But Shehu didn’t bring his wife; he brought Edi Rama, who would go on to become Albania’s prime minister. The feds say it was Rama’s money all along, and a picture Rama got with the U.S. president gave his campaign back home a huge boost.

For those not in the know- which our POSUS certainly was- is Albania is one of the world leaders in corruption, worst in Europe.  In fact, Rama ran on the premise that his predecessor was corrupt:

“This is a present by the Albanian government for this centennial (the #1 in Europe ranking),” Rama said. “With this level of corruption there is no hope for economic growth,” he added.

And his present to himself was to funnel 80K to Obama- money which he is now accused of raising through drug dealers.  If Obama was a Republican, this would be Iran-Contra- drug dealers paying for Obama's campaign through an Albanian gangster who becomes PM for his troubles.  And the chauffeur?

Shehu,of the New York suburb of Paramus, N.J., has not fared as well. He pleaded guilty June 29 to knowingly and willfully making foreign contributions and donations and faces five years in prison and a $250,000 fine when he is sentenced on Oct. 5.

Poke the Last:  And could there be a more ironic fini:

The familiar Pokemon slogan “Gotta catch 'em all” gained new meaning for two Marine Corps veterans on Tuesday who caught more than they bargained for while playing the popular smartphone game, stumbling upon an attempted murder suspect and stopping the man from allegedly groping young children in a California park.

Javier Soch and Seth Ortega first saw the man, who has not been identified, when Soch’s smartphone screen froze. With the two men no longer glued to the Pokemon Go app, Soch and Ortega said they noticed a slightly disheveled man harassing a woman and her three sons in Fullerton.

“The game, when it loads up on the screen, says to be cautious of your surroundings,” Ortega told The Los Angeles Times. “Strongly follow that advice.”

The Marines approached the man, who said he was looking for shelter and cigarettes. He eventually walked away but Soch and Ortega soon saw him allegedly touching a young boy’s upper body. He then walked into a park and was seen groping a different boy’s leg, the men told The Times.

Ortega got between the man and the children and Soch corralled the families. When police arrived, it emerged that the man was wanted in Sonoma County on an attempted murder charge.

“If I hadn’t looked over to my left and seen this guy who looks out of place, I could have missed it,” Soch said. “The best thing I can say: Remind yourself that you are not in the phone playing the game. Look around and be more aware.”

Wait a few days, and I'm sure you'll see the follow-up headline:  Marines Disciplined For Harassing Pervert In Sanctuary City.

  1. Chris:
I really like this as much as the MWN...
(you want me to make a LOGO for this? LOL)

---Yeah, when you take the time to POLITICIZE a bloody BALLGAME for God's sake, you definitely have your priorities in life "effed up"!
---I think we were all told to IGNORE that "memo", my friend. (nothing to see here? Seriously?)
---I saw that story about the diner...there are LOTS of GOOD LEOs in PA, trust me.
Kudos to them. Hope it made that guy feel smaller than ANT-MAN!
---Now THAT clerk needs a raise! I thought New Zealand had such strict gun laws?
---Maybe that ISIS fighter found out all those "virgins" were actually zit-faced MALES living in mommy's basement at their computers all damn day?
---The Albanian story - always know WHERE the money comes from. Duffusology-101 grad obviously.
---Love this. NEVER mess with two marines.
Something good comes from Pokémon - that's gotta be a FIRST.

    Excellent post.

    Stay safe up there, brother.

    1. I don't think it's going to be a NAMED "regular feature", no real need for a logo at this point- thanks though!

As for it being good, or actually from Pokemon, both are equally debatable...

  2. People have such good intentions, I think. They want their voices heard and think, "Hey, I'm going to use my public platform to do it!" They don't realize how disrespectful and selfish that time and place is. Take a look at the NBA guys who failed to mention the police who were killed. So sad. Did their lives not matter? Of course they did. This country is so divided now. I hope it changes. I really do. I don't think our country is as racist as some want us to think is, not the majority anyway.

Thank you for the shoutout! That means more than you know.

    1. I don't think we are so much racist as polarized. And that might be harder to overcome.

  3. I'm not even going to read the post.

It is your duty as an AMERICAN and as a CHRISTIAN to embrace the Pokemon Go phenomenon. You fascist Commie racist misogynistic LGBT-bashing heathen (I think I covered every possible thing there).

And then when you have embraced it and figured it out, can you please explain it to me?

  4. Now my real comment.

You third point resonated with me due to all of the similar stories I read, including that diner story.

In certain cities, I feel the police need to reach out to the black communities, but not suck up to them.

A perception issue is a real thing. I don't think all cops in NYC hate blacks, but if the blacks do, the NYC police are going to have a tougher job.

Reaching out is good, and maybe even buying a meal to make a point is a harmless thing, but there are so many stories this week (a cop buying a bike for someone, and I forget the third I saw) that it just feels like police everywhere are trying show everyone what a good guy they are.

That's kind of like parents trying to be their kid's friends.

To Bob G, who obviously felt a little different about the diner incident-I've lived in PA, NJ, CT and AZ, and I think there are good LEO's everywhere.

They don't need to buy my lunch. Just don't mistake me for a Neo-Nazi because my head is shaved (how many Nazi's wear tie dye Pink Floyd shirts, officer).

    1. I think a lot of "sensitive" people forget that a policeman has to use an "official" voice on duty, and has to be to a certain extent an a-hole- and they take it for hateful, mean, or racist. If you have respect for the uniform, understanding is no problem. But a lot of people don't start with that respect.
