Meaning, we still have well over a month of winter left and even more time when snowfall could whack us again. I'm getting tired of winter, for sure.Al Penwasserhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14052950809151897315noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5822869016413307981.post-75437967617529865342016-01-29T16:03:47.942-05:002016-01-29T16:03:47.942-05:00I hate to say this, but I never liked your first w...I hate to say this, but I never liked your first wife- she was a b-i-t-you know the rest on Search For Tomorrow and I never liked her afterwards.

Not knowing Mr. St. Peters, his music always gave me that same impression.

When I saw "Where Have All The Good Times Gone", my first thought was, "They covered the Kinks before- is this the same as the Van Halen song?" To be honest, the copycat-McGuire vocals were so bad to me I never cleared the first minute in two attempts.

Time to relax to the M10 setlist. 1966 was (say it with me) berry berry ...Hi, Chris!

1966 was (say it with me) berry berry good to me. In fact, I point to 1966 as the greatest year of my life. I was 16, got my driver's license, drove a VW Beetle with a competition clutch and danced and romanced at the Shady Dell. It was there at the Dell that I met Mrs. Shady #1..... Morgan Fairchild. Yeah, that's the ticket - Morgan Fairchild! If there was a blizzard on January 29th, 1966, there's a good chance I dug out my V-dub and still made up to the Dell. I rarely missed a night from fall of 1965 until I left for PSU in September '67.

There will be too many great songs to name in this post of yours because the music scene was exploding with new acts and several styles were popular at the same time: pop, rock, psych, garage, Brit beat, Motown, Chi-town soul, Southern (Memphis style) R&B, sunshine pop and folk-rock (S&G "Sounds of Silence" highly indicative of the changing landscape).

Dell biggies included "Just Like Me," "Barber Ann," "Lightnin' Strikes," and the Beatles' double-A "We Can Work It Out/Day Tripper."

I read somewhere that Crispian St. Peters was a little overconfident, believing that he was going surpass the Beatles in popularity.

"Till the End of the Day" is perhaps my favorite Kinks record. I consider it a double-A because I like the fab flip "Where Have All The Good Times Gone" just as much!

I have a post about "Dawn of Correction" coming up on SDMM. Stay tuned. I enjoyed that Flo and Eddie recording. At first it sounded like the latest by Weird Al. When the glorious horns section kicked in, I was hooked. I love a clean, clear, feminine female voice like that of Brooke Annibale and dug her song. Great find!

I enjoyed the back story about "Born To Wander." I never heard it before but liked it. It kinda reminds me of Burdon's "Monterey." As one YouTuber wrote, " this song is dope keep it fresh."

Thanks, Chris, and have a great weekend!
