This is where we have to climb up to get to the Plex... |
Then we come around a corner, and there's the woods up ahead! I'm so excited I could just poop! In fact, I think I will... |
Then Daddy brings me here and says, "Find the trail, Boofus." Yeah, right. |
(Note from Daddy: Don't let him fool you. He knows just how to find the trail.) |
Here's where we go in. It looks like an opening to Daddy, but to ME... |
At this point, though, the plan derailed. Soon as we were in the woods, he smelled something, tossed the camera aside, and literally drug me through the woods. First stop...
The fallen log that he never knew existed last time we were here, but had to spend five minutes sniffing every nook and cranny this time...
...as well as the entire adjoining area. He was sure something had come this way... I was sure I wished I hadn't forgotten Stick.
I did manage to get him back on the straight and narrow for a moment... but soon we were tear-assing through the forest primeval again.
These are a couple of examples of what he considered trails during the mad rush. Finally, I caught a glimpse of what he was smelling...
See him center left? Anyway, we lost track of him soon later, though Scrappy still led us down a twisting road. That led us to the usual odd fungi...
... and eventually to the author of Scrappy's grand tour...
Of course, by this time, our hero was oblivious. To which both the buck and I said, "Thank God."
Great walk, great commentary. Had to laugh at my imagined picture of you and Scrappy tear-assing thru the woods.. Made my day Thanks! Glad Mr. Dog is feeling better. Thanks for sharing your adventure with me.
ReplyDeleteJust imagine a fat old man being pulled at breakneck speeds by a fat old dog...
DeleteDon't knock pooping in the field. Better than the backyard. The neighbors are so judgmental.
ReplyDeleteLuckily, those idiot cross-country runners have to have plenty of porta-pots.
DeleteHave beagle ... will find buck. What a nose!
ReplyDeleteYeah, but the eyes- not so much.
DeleteThose are some big mushrooms on that tree.
ReplyDeleteLaurie called them "squirrel urinals."
DeleteCWM:
ReplyDeleteGood to see Scrappy "back in action"...
WOW, those fall colors really POP up there...brilliant yellows and oranges.
And that tree fungus...is weird!
(darn shame you can do something useful with it)
Great travelogue.
Stay safe (and sound) up there.
I agree!
DeleteI'm glad to hear Scrappy is feeling better. I think that about the time you reach Groundhog Road Scrappy should be relieved of his tether and allowed to pursue such things as he finds running. There's not much that beats a runner during a dog walk.
ReplyDeleteLot of reasons that don't happen, including 1: a dog that follows his nose doesn't pay attention where he's going; 2: Far too many people in the area to abscond, hit, run off with, etc; 3: City leash law, which I think should be obeyed because 4: you as an owner never know what's around the next bend and if it bites; 5:SKUNKS; and 6: that's what the bark park's for- and look what it did to him!
DeleteBeautiful photos...love the fall colors. And, that buck would make the hunters here go wild...all I see on my facebook feed are dead deer photos.
ReplyDeleteI hear a lot of people complain about that... but I thankfully have none of them as a friend.
DeleteGreat walk today and good to see Scrappy is back to fine form.
ReplyDeleteAll those beautiful fallen leaves carpeting the forest, it must be beautiful walking through there now the weather is cooling
Carpeting is right! If it isn't through heavy brush you can't even see the trails!
DeleteWait, something was wrong with Scrappy? I missed so much while moving and had no internet!
ReplyDeleteLong story short, he had a long playtime at the bark park with two puppies that ran his butt off and got up the next day not able to jump up on anything, or sit up w/o hurting. A few anti-inflammatories later, good as new.
