Today (as you read this) is my birthday, so tomorrow (as I type this, Wednesday as you read it) I took an extra day off to celebrate, so I won't be doing the show part of this week's countdown. But I will share it with you.
10- the lone debut, and I had a somewhat fearsome debate whether this one breaks my rules- obviously "it does not" won. What is going on? 50 years after Paul McCartney and Wings recorded a live in studio lp for a docu-movie called One Hand Clapping, those unreleased (but apparently often bootlegged) tracks have at last been released. And the opener from those sessions comes in at #10...
Debuting at 8 has been a killer that last few weeks; Dent May feels it as he drops one to 9 with You Already Know.
The War And Treaty move up a spot to 8 with Stealing A Kiss.
Bob Junior... well, lets just be frank and say, Bethany Cosentino- drops 3 to 7 with Always (All The Time).
Lake Street Dive slips back one to 6 with Good Together.
The Purple Disco Machine, stickies its way up a pair to 5 with Honey Boy.
A song that fits in the "I didn't think this was going anywhere" category moves up 2 to 4- Lorde with Take Me To The River.
This week's stunner- Shannon and the Clams lose their grip on the top after 4 weeks with Real Or Magic slipping to 3.
Up 2 for a song in the "I didn't think it would get THIS far" category- Real Estate's Somebody New.
So a new #1? Well, not really...
...because Kacey Musgraves has weathered the four week siege of Shannon and the Clams, fought off Bethany Cosentino, and returns to the top after an new-record 4 weeks out with Cardinal!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Next week, Lord willing, the return of the usual madness.
So you are another year older and deeper in debt, sorry those are words from an old song the name of which escapes me at his time. I hope you had a bloody good birthday, and felt loved and appreciated
