SOCK IT TO ME BABY!!!

Wednesday's dog is full of...

...fun, as we took a walk after dinner and oh, the things he saw!

First we had to weave our way around all the socceristas that now are making the new field their home.  Then into the woods, where we were greeted by a gentle snow...

...well, actually it was this stuff, falling from most every tree along the trail- one even found my right eye- and pollen enough to even bug me.

It was only moments later we heard the crashing through the brush and a couple of brown-and-white butts scooting away.  But not long after that...

Probably about six of 'em all told.  As we moved on down, we met a lady and her big Black and white dog (kind of a St. Bernard build in a border collie size (maybe a bit bigger) and color scheme.  The two doggies had a good meet, tried to tangle their leashes, and on we went.  Off in the med labs' parking lot, I thought I saw something interesting...

...and it was, if you're into black cats.

So we get to where the trail comes back into the woods, and just then a scraggly old squirrel runs right past our hero, and off we went after him... for a few seconds.

Damn it, I know you're around here somewhere... the tree?  Why would I look up the tree?

Next up, we were just at the bridge when guess who runs out onto the trail way up ahead?

...yep, I finally got a shot of ol' Rusty!  I knew I was only getting one shot at this, so forgive the inferior focus job.  Once again, off we went....

...but Rusty's big lead + a million den holes to dive into + the ravine + Mr. I-have-to-check-every-hole-whether it's-a-possibility-or-not = no foxes were harmed in the posting of this blog.  But for Scrappy, it's all about the sniffing, so he didn't care.

Back home again, I went up to prepare for my shower, when Scrappy barked, and sure enough, a deer was munching in the back trail.  I said, "I wonder if I can get my camera in time to..." and then stopped and said, "No, because I just put it on charge!"  So we just thanked him for stopping by to say hello (well, I did, but I'm not so sure Scrappy was appreciative), and off he went.

  1. What an enjoyable walk! Glad you shared it. We have 6 very pregnant does hanging around the feed trough. They are new to the area and very skiddish. As soon as they hear a noise, off they go. Our regular consumers of corn will stand and wait for the food, from a slight distance. We may actually have most of the fawns live this year as we are not into the triple digits yet and we still have water in the low water crossings.

  2. Okay, safe to say you don't live in the city.

    1. Actually, we are well within the city. Just across the river from one of the more well-known (though no longer finest) apartment communities in the city, due north of the world-famous Allen County Memorial Coliseum, and down the street from perennial HS football powerhouse Bishop Dwenger. And if you take the trail through the woods all the way to the south end, you come out at a Holiday Inn.

  3. All of the fruit trees are dropping their petals right now. So pretty to see, such a pain to clean up. :)
