First a little Monday night excursion....
|
Kinda late for you to be out, eh, big boy? |
And PFW has figured out how to keep the boat ramp free of dead bodies- post a sign on each side saying, "Parking for vehicles with boat trailers only." Escalades and Hearses are pointedly left out.
Tuesday Afternoon ( I sense a song there)...
|
So they dug up those strips only to re-plant with grass. This is about to be us ignoring the barrier. |
|
For a minute there, I had thought those teeny little flowers with no leaves and little white flowers grew up to be white gooseberries, but no.... |
|
They stay little and get tiny black berries, actually. |
|
Last wild strawberry of the year- only one I've seen in a couple of months. Ate 'im, too. No taste, as usual. |
|
And the latest destruction for the convenience of runners and joggers- tear out all the growth along the side trail. Really? |
|
Right after Scrappy stepped on this mushroom and knocked it down while breaking on the ravine trail. |
|
And while I looked out at the view... |
|
...he stepped on another one! |
|
Scrappy, Slayer of Mushrooms. |
|
Just hanging out... |
|
Better greeters at the ravine trail than Wal-Mart |
|
Last time I saw these, it was closer to Halloween. |
Chris:
ReplyDelete---Thatn bridge looks nice lkit up in the evening.
---LOL...that ramp sign looks BRAND NEW (wonder why?)
Oh, you can add FWPD Crime Scene Vans to that short list of vehicles.
---"Ignore the Barriers" (make a nice t-shirt)
---Cool Monarch picture. Send him down HERE, will 'ya?
---Wow, that former trail (now) looks more like a side STREET.
(hold the macadam)
---"Scrappy the Shroom Slayer" (cool name, btw - very alliterative)...might find him a spot in the NEXT Super Mario game, perhaps?
---We had a very nice greeter at the SS W/M.
(she's a keeper)
Very good walkabout.
Stay safe (and horticulturally-endowed) up there, brother.
Funny thing is, next hard rain is now going to turn the whole thing into a collection of washes without growth to hold the water. These imbeciles from Purdue really have no clue. A ten-y-o kid raised in the country has more land sense than these "experts".
DeleteHeh...welcome to the wonderful world of the intellectual cabal.
DeleteThey can't find their butts with BITH hands...lol.
That's BOTH, btw (typo demons again)
DeleteI don't think those are wild strawberries. I used to see them growing around the old homestead, and while they resemble wild strawberries, I do not believe they are the real article. We used to have wild strawberries around the old place, but they all died out - and they were delicious when ripe.
ReplyDeleteTrust me, it is wild strawberry- same leaves, same flowers as the store bought kind. Just a berry that hasn't been improved by selective breeding. Maybe you had "feral" strawberries, IDK.
DeleteWhat great pictures indeed, I do so like
ReplyDeleteCool, thanks!
DeleteWe've been seeing lots of butterflies lately. Those and dragonflies. Very cool. I'm soaking it all in before the weather starts to change.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the rest of your week!
Elsie
I think our started today...
DeleteIt's well-known fact of Criminal Justice that a sign can thwart the most heinous of evil acts.
ReplyDeleteOkay, perhaps not.
Even the dreaded "removal of this tag" wave we've been cursed with for decades?
DeleteI really enjoy your pictures! :)
