This is where Chris says, "I've had enough." So far this year, most of our Christmas songs and many of our Christmas specials that we have watched the last 50 years are suddenly offensive to the PC sheeple. Santa is a bully, it is sadistic for someone to want to be a dentist, Charlie Brown segregates his Thanksgiving table, and God forbid it be "Cold Outside."
But today, I saw the one that finally tells us that if you are offended by all these things, you are simply off your damn rocker. From the people who told us you can't start eating a pop-tart by the corner because it might look like a gun...
Joke, you say? Here, read it from Snopes:
Manchester Elementary principal Jennifer Sinclair sent a memorandum to parents and students informing them that candy canes were off limits because “Historically, the shape [of the candy cane] is a ‘J’ for Jesus. The red is for the blood of Christ, and the white is a symbol of his resurrection. This would also include different colored candy canes.”
The list essentially banned any Christmas-specific decor or activities, including Christmas carols and music, reindeer, Elf on the Shelf, and red and green items, but it allowed for non-Christmas winter imagery such as yetis, penguins and “snowmen, snow women, snow people, snowflakes”:
Acceptable practices:
Gifts to students
Students making gift for a loved one
Snowmen, snow women, snow people, snowflakes
Gingerbread people
Holidays Around the World – purposeful presentation of information to teach
about different cultures
Sledding
Hot chocolate
Polar Bears
Penguins
Scarves, boots, earmuffs, and hats
Yetis
Olaf – Frozen
Not acceptable:
Santas or Christmas items (clipart) on worksheets
Christmas trees in classrooms
Elf on the Shelf – that’s Christmas-related
Singing Christmas Carols
Playing Christmas music
Sending a Scholastic book that is a Christmas book – that’s Christmas-related
Making a Christmas ornament as a gift – This assumes that the family has
a Christmas tree which assumes they celebrate Christmas. I challenge the
thought of, “Well they can just hang it somewhere else.”
Candy Cane – that’s Christmas-related. Historically, the shape is a “J” for
Jesus. The red is for the blood of Christ, and the white is a symbol of his
resurrection. This would also include different colored candy canes.
Red/Green items – traditional Christmas colors
Reindeer
Christmas videos/movies and/or characters from Christmas movies
So let's just take a look here...Holidays around the world means that it is okay to mention anyone's holidays BUT Christians... Polar Bears- can't lose that Coca-Cola sponsorship... Penguins, Yetis, Olaf- so apparently Disney is okay... Elves? Isn't that profiling because Santa uses elf labor? Singing or playing Christmas music?? Red or green items? God forbid you get hit in the nose with a frozen snowball (which somehow escaped the lists) and snot up some blood... "I challenge the thought of..." AKA, "I know what you are thinking, so STOP IT!" Reindeer? But don't they make it under cross cultural holidays? Lapps who still worship the pagan Reindeer god may be offended...
Holy freaking crap. And this woman actually signed her memo, "The (unintentional) Grinch who stole Christmas (from Manchester)."
Unintentional? Please. You are an integrity challenged, agenda driven hate monger is what you are.
However, there are some sane people in Nebraska, as this was in the follow up story...
OMAHA — A Nebraska elementary school principal has been placed on leave after a conservative Christian group threatened legal action over her ban on Christmas and holiday symbols in her school.
Elkhorn Public Schools quickly reversed Manchester Elementary principal Jennifer Sinclair's ban on imagery including Santa, Christmas trees and even candy canes after Liberty Counsel, a nonprofit that promotes and defends what it believes are evangelical Christian values, accused the district of being hostile to Christians.
Sinclair apologized to parents in a letter Wednesday, but was put on administrative leave Thursday for violating district policy that expressly allows Christmas trees, Santa and other secular, seasonal symbols to be displayed as teaching aids. The school district declined to answer questions about when or whether Sinclair would return to her post.
The smiling face of the enemy. |
How's this for another bon-mot? The alleged "apology"...
The email said, in part, “Last week, in an attempt to provide clarity, I mistakenly sent out an internal staff memo detailing what can and cannot be done in a public school surrounding the holiday season.”
It continues, “I wanted to reach out and make sure our families understand what occurred, and what has been done to correct the issue. I understand that the information I initially provide was incorrect and I sincerely apologize for any confusion of concern this has caused and the negative attention this issue brings to the District and Manchester.”
So she's not apologizing for trying to drag Christmas kicking and screaming out of society, but only because she accidentally blew her cover to the parents.
THE EXCUSE: Sinclair is facing her first holiday as a principal (perhaps her last) after being hired in mid-February. She is a graduate of Nebraska-Omaha with 13 years in the business. And that experience obviously did not include the practice of seeking out the advice of senior administrators before starting something over-the-top controversial- or even reading the District Manual, apparently.
Chris:
ReplyDelete---I heard this story mentioned on Glenn Beck today (the candy cane part), but I'm glad you took it further and posted the "lists"...
---Bill O'Reilly was SO right...there is a MAJOR war in Christmas STILL ongoing (and on Christians as well) in our nation - a nation established by GOD-fearing men.
---I am SO glad there were people who PUSHED BACK on this bottom-dweller of society and purveyor of socialism.
Again, we see where ONE dictates (or tried to anyway) to others what WILL be "banned".
---Wonder how often she takes books from her library and burns them out back (assuming she HAS any books that spin counter to her perverse beliefs).
She needs to be fired and then sued for denying the 1st Amendment to others. Let's give such idiots a healthy does of their OWN medicine for a change.
Very good rant. Enjoyed every word of it (because it's TRUE).
Stay safe (and always question with boldness) up there, brother.
I think she needed to have her job explained to her- something sadly lacking in this world. But, from what I saw on the district website, there might be a reason for that...
DeleteAll I can say is Jesus...
ReplyDeleteYeah...
DeleteAnd, by "enemy," you mean "moron."
ReplyDeleteA moron is someone of diminished intellectual capacity- not trying to be PC, but this chick is only part stupid- but all enemy.
DeleteChris:
DeleteHow about "intellectually-impaired"???
She has a master's degree. She's only impaired in morality.
DeleteOH EM GEE!!! I am so very sick of this ridiculous, sudden stupidity that has come over these so called "pc" people. To them I say, GET.OVER.IT. I was pissed when I first read about Frosty not wearing clothes and Rudolph being bullied by Santa and all that other nonsense. What is happening to my world???
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I hadn't heard the one about "naked Frosty", just "pipe-smoking Frosty". I'm surprised we haven't gotten to "naked Snoopy", "socially backwards Linus", or "Fred and Barney wearing dresses" yet.
