M10 show Week #114

I'm going to plead eye fatigue in making this a bit of a short post- that and our trip back in the past has hit a loud "THUD" in target year 1957.

We have one debut this week on the M10- a very unusual team up from the new Sheryl Crow lp Evolution.  If you ever wondered how a Peter Gabriel song would sound with Sheryl singing, wonder no more.  To me, it turned out pretty darn good.  Coming in at #9....

**************************************************************

It is just what I said- a song from Peter's 1992 lp Us, and he helps out on the vocals.  The original was top 10 in Canada and #52 here.

In 1957, CHUM published their first Canadian chart- starting at the end of May.  In other words, there was no Canadian chart at this point, so we'll be returning to the other end of the ME 2.0 next week.  In Australia, the air waves were topped by Guy Mitchell's Singing The Blues- which had been #1 here at the turn of the year.  As for my top five for the week...

5- #29 on Cashbox this week on it's way to a peak of 22, and an even better showing of #17 in Australia, Little Richard's Lucille.

4- Debuting on the CB chart all the way up at 13- and about to go on an 8-week run at the top- Our big buddy Elvis and All Shook Up.  He's gonna kill me for my short post next week! It stopped at #5 in Australia.

3- Moving into CB's #1 slot this week, peaking at 6 in Australia, Buddy Knox and Party Doll.

My top two would end up stuck behind Elvis, in fact they spent 3 of his 8 weeks at 2 and 3!

2- At 7 on this week's chart, the Del-Vikings and Come Go With Me.

And 1- zooming up to 4 on CB, the Diamonds and Little Darlin'.  Neither of these big big hits for me charted in Australia.

And with that, here's the rest of this week's M10:

10- Blackberry Smoke falls 4 with Whatcha Know Good.

8- Juliana Hatfield clings to a 9th week in the ten, dropping one with Secret Messages.

7- Sliding a pair to 7, Big Thief and Shark Smile.

6- More droppers than gainers this week- and the biggest is Amira Elfeky tumbling from the top with A Dozen Roses.

5- Suki Waterhouse gets pushed a notch back with Every Day's A Lesson In Humility.

4-  In fact, only three songs in last week's ten move up.  The first is Big Thief's Not, up 4.

3-  Dent May goes o-for-2 on #1s from the new lp, as Coasting on Fumes drops one spot.

2- This won't be a huge surprise if you look at some other charts;  Radiowavemonitor's College chart debuts it on their 100 at 21, and Mediabase's Triple-A (adult alt) chart leaps it from 40 to 23.  I move it from 10 to 2-  Kacey Musgraves and Cardinal.

And that means a new #1, their second, for....

...Broken Bells with The Mall And Misery!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, time to rest the eyes, see ya next time!
