M10 2.0.6

So yes, I celebrated my birthday last week without a music report, but I am back again this week, despite waiting till last night to do my M10 and waiting till this AM to type it up!  And yes, I do have a feature!  So let me start out with last week's first debut- a debut that lasted only the one week... at #10 last week...

*****************************************************************************
Unfortunately for Sunflower Bean, the nature of my chart is fluid enough that sometimes, you just don't hold your spot.  This week, we had a different debut at #10- one that came from Debbie the Doglady's playlist of Women that rock!

****************************************************

Also last week, I tumbled onto a karaoke report- among the things it discussed was, "Who gets karaoked the most?"  Well, here ya go...

For me this list is 2 at "acts I haven't Karaoked yet", and 8 in the "Don't wanna sing, don't wanna hear".  If'n you know me, you know which is which.

The number nine slots both weeks contained second debuts of the week.  From last week...

***************************************************************

And Real Estate's Pink Sky ascended 4 to #5 this week.  New this week at #9...

**************************************************************

Here's a fun fact on Karaoke- almost 80% of songs are featured on ONLY ONE playlist... only 3% are on half the playlists the article looked at, and 0.1% were on all of them.  So if you can't find the song you want to do, there's why.  Likewise, the by-decade distribution of songs on playlists is a bell curve, with the 1990s and 2000s taking up over 50% of the lists.   Just under 23% come from the 1950s-1980s (which is why I can't find the ones I want to do), and an even 20% from the 2010s-2020s.

Last week's #8 was the former #1 Sway by Beabadoobee, which falls off this week.   And last week's 7 is this week's 8- the Flaming Groovies and revolution.

The #6 was the same both weeks- Evanescence and Afterlife.

______________________________________________

So what is the biggest Karaoke song- the only one on EVERY list, and those just close?  Well....

Daniel Parris, StatSignificant

You got one chance on that list of me singing!

Linkin Park's Up From The Bottom sagged to 5 last week, and 7 this week.  Sam Roberts Band's Brother down was up to 4 last week, and 3 this week.

The former #1 Spanish Moss by Cole Swindell dropped to 3 last time and 4 this week.

Which leaves the two songs that took turns at the top the last two weeks.  But first...

If you were to gather a list of the songs I'VE done most at Karaoke, it would look like this (in alphabetical order):

Ain't Seen Nothing Yet, BTO
Come As You Are, Nirvana
Comedown, Bush
Creep, Radiohead
Little Things, Bush
Miss You, Rolling Stones
No Time, the Guess Who

As for those #1s, last week at 1, this at 2...

...Amira Elfeky's Forever Overdose..... and last week's 2 and this week's #1.....

...Counting Crows' Under The Aurora!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have a great memorial weekend, those that honor!

  1. Thanks for the mention and for including Melissa! ☺ Some interesting other songs here too. I especially liked Deradoorian. I didn't know you were into Karaoke! Interesting that the Backstreet Boys' songs are the most popular.

    1. Once upon a time I was among an assemblage that made weekly Karaoke outings (mostly b/c the girls in that assemblage thought the host was a stud. I don't know abt that, but he kicked butt on Enter Sandman).
