Tonight, I started with 6 songs fighting for the last two spots. About halfway through playing the list for Laurie, I found it was four songs, and then three, fighting for the last one. When we got to the end, Laurie told me which ones she liked best. One snuck in; the other was the first one out.
I do not do not want to expand this list! But I want to give some of these songs recognition before their knocking at the door fades. So I thought I'd give you a chance to hear two of the "last cuts".
From 2014's lp Wayne Interest, these are the Tijuana Panthers:
And off the current Adult Alternative chart, here's our old friend Leon Bridges sounding a lot like Smoky this time:
Tune in Friday to see who beat them out- and who's at the top!

Chris:
ReplyDeleteWhile I like the "Nobo" parody on the Bond flicks, I could do w/o the guy in the blonde wig, so I'm gonna have to roll with Leon Bridges (nicely retro for me)...if I HAVE to choose.
(I do find that girl in the slinky black outfit most fetching, however).
Rock on up there, brother.
The car going off the cliff in silhouette cracked me up!
DeleteLeon is so fun because he does "retro" right- right down to the clothes and image.
Holy crap!!!
ReplyDeleteThat Tijuana Panthers vid was like the opening credits of a new James Bond movie released in a bizarro world/alternate universe and directed by Quentin Tarantino! That girl is no Jane Hathaway, but she'll do in a pinch. The song and the vocals reminded me of the Pet Shop Boys. Me likey!
Thanks, Chris!
God, I have sucked at answering stuff this week!
DeleteGlad you liked that video. Truth be told, I hadn't WATCHED the thing before posting... then Bob commented on it, and I had to go around "pulling my pants back up"!
