Pictures and this week's M10

So today you get a mixed dose- some pictures and some music.  Let's kick it off with the #10 on this week's Martin 10.  Boz Scaggs, once a power in pop, has shifted gears just a bit- he has hit the Blues album chart with his last 3 lps, all of them top 2, the last two making #1 on that chart.  That last lp, A Fool To Care- which came out in March- just came across my Spotify suggestions.  Although the bluesy lead track didn't trip my trigger, I did find a song on the lp that did:

Took an early morning foggy walk...

Neighbor's Christmas decorations

My lights from outside

Wonderful day to spend at the swamp...

Castlecomer slips back to #9 this week with Escapism, mostly because of the "pressure from below."  There is a LOT of good new stuff this week trying to claw their way into the M10, but I only had 2 slots available.  You've heard one of those a moment ago.  The other came across my suggestions last week.  It belongs to singer-songwriter Dent May, from a 2013 lp called Warm Blanket...

Born Too Late debuts at #8.

Last week's newbie, Little Green Cars and Harper Lee, moves up 2 to #7.

Ran into a group of four deer hiding in the brush...

...I'm thinking you'll want to do the click to enlarge thing to see 'em...

Silversun Pickups recent #1 Nightlight slides a pair to #6.

Anyone surprised that the latest on the M10 from Beach House, Beyond Love, climbs a swift 5 to #5?

Cage The Elephant moves up one to #4 with Come A Little Closer.

It may seem that the grey of the deer is the only color left in the woods-

-but you really just have to look...

Avril Lavigne gets crowded out of last week's #2 slot, dropping to #3 with I'm With You.

Are you sitting down?  Alvvays gives way, stepping down to #2 with Archie Marry Me.

And at number one- taking an M10 record five weeks to get there...

...the Decemberists with The Wrong Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Again, no Time Machine this week or next, but January will bring the 2015 M10 review and the Beauty Contest!

All right, the pictures first this time!

But first, one for Bobby G.:

This was shared on FB by Time Crash, that wonderful Doc-Rock band from Chicago and I just had to save it.

And as long as I'm doing memes, this one cracked me up:

So as I sit here debating on the M10 (which I promise I'll share tomorrow), here's some more fun stuff:

Laurie put 2 + hours of work (and bothered easily annoyed neighbors) to put this together a few days back.  I put in the flashy bulbs for her and when she was talking about interweaving more to it, but didn't want to because it would be too hard and the neighbor was echoing her hammer blows (in the middle of the day, jerk!)  I offered to put in whatever other nails she needed... just mark the spoots and I'll put them in, say about 2 AM...

This morning, we kicked off our watching of the Doctor Who marathon this week...

He thinks Martha Jones is hot....

Speaking of the M10, here's a song by a dude who, when I tried to learn about him, all I got was that Leon Bridges LOVES him.  And I see why...

Will Sonny make it?  There is seriously a LOT of competition right now...

I read an article on Voice Of America that really irked me today.  If you cringe everytime you hear "global warming," "CO2 emissions", or "Our responsibility to clean up", you should then hit an article like this one.  It's about two of the most heavily populated, and heavily polluted, cities on earth- New Delhi and Beijing- and the mess that THEY are creating:

Air quality monitoring stations in Beijing and New Delhi displayed readings far exceeding the threshold for the highest-category hazardous level.

The Chinese capital on Monday and Tuesday was under its second-ever pollution red alert prompting Beijing's metropolitan government to order factories to reduce production or shut down, pull half the vehicles off the capital's roads and close schools.

In the early afternoon on Tuesday, air quality index machines in central Beijing showed readings in excess of 400 micrograms per cubic meter for PM2.5 (particles less than 2.5 micrometers in diameter, which can lodge in the lungs).

---------

“Studies have shown that in Delhi every third child has impaired lungs now. If you look at the number of premature deaths that get reported from different studies in this city that virtually works out to be one death per hour due to air pollution related diseases,” said  Anumita Roychowdhury, executive director for research and advocacy at the Center for Science and Environment in New Delhi.

The World Bank this year calculated that the shortened lifespans of people in India’s cities due to air pollution is costing the country’s economy $18 billion annually.

---------

The Delhi High Court, which previously said that living in the Indian capital was akin to being in a “gas chamber,” on Monday declared an emergency. Two judges of the court directed all concerned authorities to follow existing rules, chastised traffic police for being ineffective in reducing road congestion and ordered officials to ensure particulate matter levels not exceed 60 microgram per cubic meter per day for the particularly lethal PM2.5 and 100 microgram per cubic meter per day for PM10.

The WHO considers any level above 25 micrograms as unsafe.

The U.S. Embassy in New Delhi late Tuesday morning recorded the air quality index at a hazardous 534.

---------

Well-heeled Chinese are purchasing high-quality imported air purifiers for their homes and offices. But those units are too expensive for many Chinese who have resorted to rigging up makeshift units by attaching glass-fiber filters to household fans.

A Canadian company, Vitality Air, which began bottling Rocky Mountain air as a joke, now claims to have sold thousands of cans in China for up to $28 each.\

---------

But at every climate summit, the US of A is expected to make concessions.

The Super Bowl XIX came down to last night and a crucial mistake.  By me.

I chose Matthew Stafford to be my starter for the B2s over Teddy Bridgewater.  We went into the Monday Night with only Stafford yet to play and the Aguas holding a 43-28 lead.  By the time the first quarter was over, that lead was down to 43-37.

But there's where it stopped.  Detroit began running the ball and Stafford threw no more TDs.

If I had started Bridgewater- who threw 4 TDs and ran one himself- the B2s would have won the game on Caleb Sturgis' field goal Sunday Night.

If Stafford would have run one in, we would have had our first OT Super Bowl- which, with Bridgewater's 18 points on the bench, would have been an easy B2s win.

But the Aguas hang on to win their first-ever Super Bowl- the first time a new team has captured a Super Bowl since the 2008 Angels.  And thus, I break Laurie's three year hold on the championship trophy.

B2s owner Chris Martin hoists team's third Super Bowl trophy.

The B2s  would have become the third team (with the 1998 NYC Athletic Club and the 2004 SVA) to win a SB with a losing regular season record.  Instead, the Aguas win makes the eighth of the ten original teams from 1997 to win a Super Bowl- both the Clock BBQs and the Sunset Rangers (KC's #1 and 2 teams) are still waiting...

_____________________________

The closest Super Bowls...

2003- the all time classic.  Laurie's first season as the Elks, she started 8-0 but faded by playoff time.  She went 11-4 the next year, and fought a savage 59-54 battle against the B2s to get a SB berth.  The KCA's were the opponent, making their first SB appearance in six years after whupping the Beagles 73-28.  The game was an instant classic, with the KCAs taking their first title 31-30.

2008- The Angels had been to the big game four times before- three losses to the T-Cubs 45-31 in 2000, 62-53 in '01, and 34-16 in '05), and a 64-32 drubbing by the Buzz Lightyears in '06.  They faced the State Ducks, who had just wrote finis to the Clock BBQs latest hopes 45-28.  But the Angels, who just survived a 3-point game over the KCAs to make it, survived another 3-point game-  27-24- To finally claim the golden cup.

Three games were decided by 4 points- in fact the first two SBs were decided by that score (Greenwoods over KCAs 31-27 in SBI and NYCAC over Butthead (the first name for the B2s) 29-25. )  The third was the '07 Elks 28-24 win over the Beagles.

The worst blow outs:  the '02 B2s 52-12 over the Beagles; and the aforementioned '06 win by Buzz.

Martin World news

ITEM:  Can there be a better MWN story than the one given me first thing this morning?  I f you haven't heard, it goes something like this:

Yep, Steve Harvey gave the Miss Universe crown to the WRONG contestant last night.  Apparently, reading a cue card is one of the job skills that he hasn't quite mastered.  And because of that...

...poor ol' Steve has just entered the "Name a host who can't get work" category.  On the bright side, Colombia has just declared war on the Philippines, so we'll have something to distract us from politics on the national news for a week or so.

ITEM:  Next up, somebody when through the troublesome research needed to find out which city in each state has the worst drinking problem.  As I give you the best of the best, let me remind that the list ONLY includes the drunkest city from each state, and not ALL the cities in a state, so the following top ten doesn't necessarily include the drunkest cities in the US of A (though it's prolly darn close) but only the top ten drunkest cities from each state.  Or something like that.  So here's the top ten:

10- Pittsfield MA, with a 21.3% population of what the research called "binge drinkers";

8 (tie)- Monroe, MI, and St. Louis, MO (gee, right near the Bud plant),22.0 ;

7- Missoula, MT, 22.1;

6- Napa, CA, 23.7;

5- East Stroudsburg, PA, 24.2;

4- Kingston, NJ, 25.1;

3- Corpus Christie, TX, 27.5;

2- Appleton, WI, 29.8;

And at #1...

Dubuque, IA, which- with 30.8% of the MSA having a binge drinking problems means that, according to current population estimates, there are 30,000 people to watch out for on the MSA's highways and roads.

ITEM:  Of course, this doesn't touch the double whammy of alcohol and legal marijuana that is Colorado, and thus...

ADAMS COUNTY - Adams County Sheriff's Office got a call about a man with a gun in Lulu's Inn in Watkins Friday morning.  Deputies evacuated the building and set up a perimeter in the 33300 block of East Highway 36.  One person was detained until it was determined that the person only had a mic stand, which was mistaken for a gun.

According to police, the person was in a band who was scheduled to play Friday night at Lulu's. A waitress saw the mic stand and thought it was a gun and reported it.

Because mic stands look SO much like guns... and how was she to know that her workplace might feature musical acts?

ITEM:  If you were not so inclined to drink, you might well have watched the Democratic Debate on ABC on Saturday night.  (After which you certainly would have been.)  Clipped from that, I saw what may be the stupidest thing a politician not named Trump has said so far this cycle.  I give you Hillary Clinton:

“I worry greatly that the rhetoric coming from Republicans, particularly Donald Trump, is sending a message to Muslims here in the United States, and literally around the world, that there is a clash of civilizations,” Ms. Clinton said. “That there is some kind of Western plot or even war against Islam, which then, I believe, fans the flames of radicalization.”

Excuse me, but it IS the Muslims who point to the "clash of civilizations" Hillary points to, and it IS the Muslims who call us the Great Satan and blame all the world's ills on us.  Can she really be so clueless ("Clueless Clinton," I like that) as to think they are going to be suspicious of US for reacting to what they say IN THE OPEN?

ITEM:  On the subject of politics, I decided that I would peruse the news (and semi-news) sites last night to see what amusing things might have slipped into that omnibus spending bill that everyone hates but passed overwhelmingly at the end of last week.  Among my findings...

During the recently completed restoration of the Supreme Court building, workers toiled behind a giant sheet printed with a life-size photo of the building, making the whole operation easier on the eyes. Congress apparently was not amused. The spending bill includes this passage: "None of the funds made available by this Act may be used for scrims containing photographs of building facades during restoration or construction projects performed by the Architect of the Capitol."  Thus eliminating the need to post all those, "pay no attention to the men behind the curtain" signs.

Don't watch porn at work. The spending bill contains some variation of this language in several places: "None of the funds made available in this Act may be used to maintain or establish a computer network unless such network blocks the viewing, downloading, and exchanging of pornography." This is not new language — it has been in the spending bills for years. Nevertheless, the EPA inspector-general found earlier this year that workers there were watching porn on government computers, raising some question about just how effective these spending bans are.  Because blocks are so hard to work around.

The Department of Agriculture already has rules in place for salt in school lunches, but Congress wants to make sure the agency does not push that limit lower just yet. The spending bill prohibits implementation of any rule cutting sodium levels further, eating less meat and, most controversially, eating a plant-based diet that protects the environment. "until the latest scientific research establishes the reduction is beneficial for children."  No word yet whether Ban Ki-Moon's bug diet is mentioned.

The bill is full of digs at the Affordable Care Act, commonly referred to as Obamacare. It delays the so-called Cadillac tax on the most generous health insurance plans, costing the government an estimated $87 billion in revenue from 2018, when it was supposed to kick in, through 2025.

It also holds up a tax against medical devices, which device makers have been fighting against for years. And it slashes money for risk corridors, which compensate insurance companies that get stuck with sicker-than-expected patients. Insurance companies had insisted on this provision in return for the health care law's requirement that they take all comers, no matter how sick they are.  Going along nicely with Hilary's Saturday proclamation that the ACA is still full of glitches.  I wonder if Nancy Pelosi has figured out what's in it yet...

"None of the funds made available in this title may be used, in whole or in part, to advocate or promote gun control," the bill reads. Health agencies such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have taken this over the years as a warning not to undertake any research on gun deaths.  Because that's not an illogical stretch of what's in the law, now is it.

Of course, as the media nitpicks it, what you will here from one side is how terrible it is that we didn't exactly defund Planned Parenthood, and from the other how terrible it is that American oil companies can now export oil pumped out here.

ITEM: Simpler, funnier humor: A CCTV video caught a man in Agadir, Morocco, with a taste for, um, large women, learning that his fetish might not be the safest for a dedicated perv to have.

First we see him pinch the butt of his victim:

...the victim is the lady in green, and you can see his arm as he inserts hand where-it-should-not-go...

Second, the revenge of the victim...

... a massive blow to the departing perv's back, which knocks him into frame #3...

...as well as into the street vendor's wares.  He was soon to find himself intimate with the ground, as the satisfied victim proceeded about her business.

ITEM:  If violence is your fare, here's a link to a daily Mirror story about two McDonalds workers from Georgia who took an argument outside for the world to see- and got it recorded by a prospective customer and thence to You Tube.  If not, well, here's the denouement:

ITEM:  Latest contestant, world's dumbest criminal:

CCTV captures the moment two masked robbers walk into the Security National Bank in Omaha, Nebraska , on Wednesday morning.

While the first robber - a woman in a pink hoodie - successfully enters by pulling the door open, her accomplice tries to push.

He spends several seconds baffled by the door's mechanism, before the woman returns and pushes the door open for him form the other side.

Despite the bad start, they managed to pull off the job and so far get away.  It is believed the male criminal may be at home under self-imposed house arrest...

ITEM:  Finally, in a story actually fit for Christmas week...

A reindeer escaped from a Christmas event at a Tesco store today - causing traffic chaos.

The errant mammal was supposed bring some festive fun to shoppers in Carlton, Nottingham, along with a Santa and sleigh. But it fled after becoming startled by a car horn - leaving onlookers amazed. The reindeer was almost hit by a bus as it made its escape at around 12pm.  It was recaptured a short time later in a nearby garden.

Screw Santa, I'm outta here!!!!!!!!!!!

Time Machine week 54

Today we land in the merry year of 1970, and on December 18th, there were several things we see that we SHOULDN'T have seen.

In Germany, a lawsuit against the manufacturer of the birth-defect-causing drug Thalidomide is ended "without assignment of guilt."  And yet, the company, its charitable foundation, and for a time the government chipped in to pay victims with both one time lump payments and a monthly stipend- which the government took over paying after the foundation ran out of money.  The company has added more money to the foundation as recently as 2008.

In Poland, riots over a huge government price increase on basic foods led to rioting, and today the city of Gdynia will recover from hundreds of deaths caused when the Army was told to stop workers RETURNING to work, and fired into a crowd.

And at the Yucca Flats, Nevada, nuclear test site, a test set off nearly 300 meters underground managed to leak out.  It apparently was staged at an uncommon place in the desert test location- known as Baneberry- where groundwater (in the desert?) managed to magnify the 10 kiloton bomb's power, spreading fallout over an area of southern Nevada and south-central California that was implicated (though not proven) in the leukemia deaths of four site workers.

Welcome to another episode of Time Machine- the last for a little while.  With Christmas and New Years Day falling on Friday, I believe I will take a two-week sabbatical from TM until after the New year starts.  The Martin Ten will go on, and I'll let you in on them in some way, shape, or form, but without the hoopla I put into this feature.  Shortly thereafter, it will be time for the Beauty Contest Edition, so stay tuned for more info!  As for today, we have a Merry Christmas chart, a six degress that travels through the Rolling Stones to connect Peter Frampton with Chicago, a 7-debut Bottom's Up, and yet another rout in the Panel Four.  Come along, it'll be a blast!

--------------------------------------

Starting out with this week's Panel!  I did my best to come up with stations that have been on the list no more than once or twice, and though I had to round out the bunch with regular CKLW Detroit, I did a pretty good job!  The rest of the group are:  KIOA Des Moines, IA; WCRV, Washington NJ; WNIO Youngstown OH; CHED Edmonton; KAKC Tulsa; WMAK Nashville; KUDL Kansas City; KLIF Dallas; WTRY Troy, NY; WLAV Grand Rapids MI; and KXFM San Bernardino.  They totalled 22 different songs, including 4 #1s that didn't make the panel list:  Van Morrison's Domino (Youngstown), the Neil Diamond version of He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother (Edmonton),  Bloodrock's truly creepy DOA (Dallas), and the Partridge family with I Think I Love You (Troy).

Unfortunately for the competition, the winnah managed to grab six of the remaining number ones, and with the runner up ( by a 52-36 margin) taking the other two, that means that numbers three and four were skanked on #1s... and Number four might have the lowest score ever on a P4!  The results:

With a whopping 9 points and the national #2 (yes, #2) spot, Smoky and the Miracles with Tears Of A Clown.

With a more respectable 20 points, the national #3, the Fifth Dimension and One Less Bell To Answer...

Thus qualifying her for the Beauty Contest...
With 36 points, and the numero unos of Tulsa and Nashville, the national # 10, Dawn with Knock Three Times.

And at #1...on the national chart as well... stay tuned.

This next song was just too much fun (especially at the end) to not put it into the Martin Ten.  Where, you'll find out later.  Who, is a band called Little Green Cars.  Where and when, they are Dubliners, and the song was on their 2013 lp Absolute Zero...

________________________________

And now, here's little Stevie with Bottom's Up!

That's NOT my name, damnit!

10- The first of the 7 debuts this week was clear up at #65, and a look at the calendar will tell you why- Michael Jackson's Santa Claus Is Coming To Town.

9- The first five, in fact, are all debuts- the next one is that guy that looks like me, dave Edmunds with I Hear You Knocking at #68 this week.

8- The next newbie is the American Band, Grand Funk Railroad, at #75 with Mean Mistreater.

7- One spot up (or down, actually) are the Grass Roots with the first week of Temptation Eyes.

6- Another rookie this week is Judy Collins' a cappella Amazing Grace at #80.

5- A brief break from the debuts for a third weeker- Black Sabbath's Paranoid at 87.

4- Back to the debuts, with Bobby Goldsboro's Watching Scotty Grow- the "anti-Paranoid"- coming in at 88.

3- The last debut is a song I learned right here on its couple of visits to Time machine- Liz Damon's Orient Express with 1900 Yesterday, coming in at #92.

2- This week's runner up is another previous visitor to the old Tardis, the Mike Curb Congregation with Burning Bridges, at #96 in its second week.

And the Top Bottom......

...Wadsworth Mansion with Sweet Mary, in its second week, sitting at #99!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

______________________________________

So last year I did the highest charting Christmas song, and I needed a new way to celebrate the birth of Our Lord on TM this year.  So I decided to do it like I did this Independence Day.  No, not with fireworks-  find out who was #1 on Cashbox AND Billboard on all the Christmases in the Martin era, combine total weeks, and give us a Christmas Top Songs top ten!  And here we go:

10- Melanie's Brand New Key (1971), which collected 2 non-consecutive weeks on CB and 3 on BB for 5 total.

9- Billy Paul's Me And Mrs. Jones (1972; now there's a real holiday classic!) with a total of 5 weeks.

8- Ruppert Holmes' Escape (1979), with 6 total weeks.  Pina Coladas, anyone?

7- The Bee Gees with How Deep Is Your Love (1977), with 6 total weeks.

6- The Monkees with Daydream Believer (1967), racking up 8 total weeks.

5- And again with the Monkees- I'm A Believer (1966), with 8 weeks (all on CB as BB had Winchester Cathedral at the top Christmas week).

4- Rod Stewart with Tonight's The Night (1976), 8 weeks (all on BB since for some reason CB had You Make Me Feel Like Dancing at the top that week).

3- A song just featured on the panel four a couple weeks back, the Singing Nun and Dominique (1963) with 9 total weeks.

2- With a total of 12 weeks ( the BB 5 weeks being non-consecutive), Chic's Le Freak (Chris's Le Gag, 1978).

And the song with the most total weeks that was #1 at Christmas on BB and CB?

...Marvin Gaye's I Heard It Through The Grapevine (1968), with 12 total weeks at the top!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

---------------------------------------------------------

Believe it or not, I had to stop production because I was lazy last weekend and never did the six degrees!  But I recovered just in time to mention that Peter Frampton turned 65 last April!

Oi, ya really had to mention that, dude?
But my story with him goes back to when he was a snot-nosed brat of 14, for it was then he was in the band the Preachers (no relation to the Preatures of recent M10s) with a gentleman named Tony Chapman.  Tony was the drummer for the Rolling Stones in their first public appearance, July 12th, 1962, 57 days after Yours Truly was birthed.  The birthing of the Stones came at the hands of one Brian Jones, who first was their inspiration and leader, then became overshadowed by the immense talents of bandmates Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, then fell into a huge drug problem- a battle he finally lost just a day before the Stones' big hit Honky Tonk Women was released.  The cowbell (again with the cowbell?  Didn't we just do this with BOC?) at the beginning was played by producer (and occasional drummer) Jimmy Miller.  Miller might have been the most famous for his co-writing with Stevie (whose name IS Stevie) Winwood in the bands the Spencer Davis Group and Traffic.  One of those comps was the tune I'm A Man, covered by Chicago on their debut lp.  And that lp held the song that this week was highest on the chart but got no panel love- Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is, which sat at #7 on Cashbox this week.

________________________________

And now, a just finished Martin Ten!

Hopefully I won't get in trouble with my boss for the song at #10.  He mentioned that he hadn't heard anything new "that tripped my trigger" in a while, so I wrote him down the prospective M10 for today... and I ended up choosing a different #10.  It's a song I decided to add after listening all the way through to Depression Cherry, which tells you Beach House is about to become the first act with a fourth M10 song... and here it is live...

Number nine is also a debut... the song you heard before, Little Green Cars with Harper Lee.

Jana Kramer slips a spot to 8 with I Got The Boy.

Castlecomer, who got a lot of good reactions last week, moves up a pair to 7 with their 2nd M10, Escapism.

And yes, Beach House is also at #6 and holding with Traveller- which officially puts them tied with their own Space Song as the leading M10 point getter so far.

Cage The Elephant Comes A Little Closer to the top, jumping from 10 to #5 this week.

The former #1 by Silversun Pickups, Nightlight, dropped from #2 to #4.

The Decemberist continue that steady climb, finding themselves two notches higher at #3 this week with The Wrong Year.

Avril Lavigne slides into the vacated runner up slot with I'm With You at #2.  And our number ones?

Panel says...

...George Harrison with My Sweet Lord, which had four weeks (all CB) in our little Christmas race- Smoky was on top mon Billboard.

And again at #1 on the M10.....

...Alvvays with Archie Marry Me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And that wraps our year!  Stay tuned next year for a new set of revolving years, the top songs of M10 2015, and the beauty Contest, when we return next year!

If you just get through the other stuff, pictures in the middle!

Okay, we're at that time of year I am about to expound on something totally amazing (if you live in this house) or very boring (most places outside).  Yep, it's our fantasy football league's Super Bowl week!

For you who don't know and are still paying attention, the three of us (Laurie, KC, and myself) each run 4 teams.  This year, KC's number 2 team, the Sunset Rangers, and Laurie's top team, the Elks, each won their division (and the Elks won both Super Bowls XVII and XVIII the last two years.)  However, this time around my #4 team routed the Rangers (the Aguas, 46-27) and my #3 team, the B2's, beat the Elks 40-30 to put me alone in the Super Bowl, # XIX.

So, the tale of the tape.

The B2's (under slightly different names depending on the hamster they were originally named after) went 5-7 this year.  Not the first team to make the playoffs (or even win a Super Bowl) with a losing record, but the first since the 2008 Fiery Beagles (Scrappy's team with Mommy's help) who went 5-6-1.  Their all time record is an even 126-126, with an 8-6 playoff record and three Super Bowl appearances.  They lost in 1998 (as Butthead's Wheel Runners) to NYCAC (the first sub-.500 team to win a Super Bowl) 29-25.  They rolled in 2002, routing the Beagles 52-12, and again in 2011, 53-21 over the Rangers (which was the only season the Rangers ever won a playoff game in 9 trips).

The Aguas, fully the Aguascalientes, were an original member but were on hiatus after the Great Purge of 2002, returning after we gave up on Shenan showing up for any other drafts in 2011.  They went 7-5 this year, and are 84-60-1 in ten seasons, including a 5-7 playoff record that never before included a SB appearance.

Head to head in the playoffs, the B2's ("Tubers" for even shorter) are 2-0 against the Aguas.  And as for the lack of division winners, not an uncommon thing.  Division winners have won just one third of our Super Bowls.  In fact, of the four teams that have won the most games season + playoffs, only one- the '03 KCA's (my #1 team)- won a Super Bowl, and that was only because they beat another of those four teams, the '03 Elks, 31-30 in said Super Bowl.  The '04 Clock BBQs (KC's #1) lost in their SB, and the '01 Angels never even got there.

With that, I will post our Super Bowl Champions- AFTER I share the latest pics.

We took a walk in the 6 AM darkness Sunday.  Thought I'd show off the neighborhoods decorations for Christmas...

...but there weren't a lot of contestants.

The retirement community loves white lights...

The swamp in the dark

Next up, I used a quote from the embattled coach of the Colts for a new sign near my machine at work:

To which was affixed a note from my relief girl this morning:  "Just add a little salt and pepper :) "

I told her when she came in, "Not even A-1 would help."

Today, we went to the Bark Park:

If you close-up on the three center left, you'll see it was raining in bright sunshine.  Neither lasted long.

Then we decided we hadn't shown you around the back yard woods lately.  Not much to see...

The neighbors through there...

Lots of discarded junk...
