NHFFL week 8

Another week goes by, and the races get tighter and tighter. The T-Cubs won the big dust-up with the Rhinos 41-38. LeGarret Blount scored twice and Rashard Mendenhall's Sunday night TD provided the margin as the T-Cubs overcame a 17-point game by K Dan Carpenter to go to 6-2, the league's best record, and leapfrogs Buzz into second in the points race (which, as I pointed out previously, means virtually nothing). Buzz was also jumped by the KCAs, who got a lot of late game points to top the Rangers 27-17. Michael Bush, Phillip Rivers, and the Arizona D combined for 22 of the points in the late games. KCAs now join Buzz, and the Rhinos, at 5-3, and the KCAs are on top in the points raceThe all-KC game saw the Clock BBQs top Buzz 51-31. New starting K Sebastian Janikowski for the CBBQs outscored bye-week sub Josh Scobie 15-8, and 12 points from Indy's D Monday night outweighed Peyton (the Cape) Manning's two TD passes. The BBQs move up to 4-4, passing the Elks in the Gold division after they lose their 4th straight- 50-26 to the State Ducks. Ben-Jarvis Green-Ellis and Megatron Johnson combined for 30 points for the Ducks, who stay alive in the Scarlet div. race. Also staying alive in the playoff race are the Fiery Beagles, after a 35-26 win over SVA. The Beagles piled up 24 points in the 2 night games to open up a tight game. Also a tight matchup, the B2s win their third straight, 31-29 over the luckless Angels. The Angels were basically limited to the big (14 point) day Matt Stafford had coming back for the first time since week one. So I won all 3 games this week, and move to 10-12 in the owner standings. Shenan still leads at 13-7; KC is break even at 11-11, and Laurie slips into last at 9-12. Next week is my turn at the intermural game, with the KCAs facing the Ducks. A big Gold game features the 4-4 pair of the Clock BBQs and the Elks. And the B2s put their 3 game winning streak on the line against the league's tops, the T-Cubs.
