Walk pictures

The bluebirds are in a lot more places this year...

First day of spring flowers over at Papermill- none yet in our complex

Except some of the snow bushes are blooming

Never realized how well Scrappy is camouflaged...

Peek-a-boo!

South canal- leading cause of drowning for tennis balls, apparently

This is what our "friends" at Integrity Tree Service wrought- a peek-in from the side to the swamp

We had a skrat following us all the way down south canal

But would Scrappy notice? Nooooo.....

There were three of these littleguys at the elbow on California Road.  As soon as they saw us, they went under.... and STAYED there.  Stood there for three or four minutes and never saw them again.  Internet tells me they are pie-billed grebes.

Hey!  The daffs on north canal are in bloom!

Along with these tiny little guys... I think Rue Anemone.

  1. Chris:
I would take YOUR wildlife to "ours" any day of any week!
(but I am keeping our birds, squirrels and rabbits...lol)
I recently saw a picture of a PAINTED BUNTING...and I hear they are as far NORTH as MAINE and MICHIGAN - coolest colored bird I've seen.
SO be sure to BOLO those buggers.

Love that tree "service", too. They do a "knock down, drag out" job.
(knock good foliage down and drag them all out).
Love that muskrat...musta been having a ball.

    Great pics as usual.
    Stay safe up there, brother.

    1. The skrat seemed to be carrying something in his mouth the whole trip. I got up on the far bank once, saw us, and dove back in. Usually they go under, but he stayed up almost the whole way.

  2. Hi, Chris!

Thanks for another walk in the woods, good buddy. That "peek-a-boo" picture of Scrappy is suitable for framing. Looks like he had fun and did some serious sniffing. I enjoyed seeing the flowers and the wildlife you encountered along the way. Mrs. Shady sometimes calls me a pie-billed grebe as a term of endearment.

    Scrappy Easter, good buddy!

    1. I actually printed out a low-qual print of that snap and it hangs in the room's center bulkhead next to the barney Fife poster.

I can see the Elect Lady calling you that. If sometimes grebe sounds more like grub, lol!
