Our new study came to me one morning as I wondered, "What do people ask AI about God? " The question comes from a desire to really go back to roots of faith and build again the foundation for those who might not have had the advantages of lifelong knowledge at varying levels about God. So I asked X's AI, Grok, "What are the top questions people ask you about God?" And Grok gave me seven good questions, with good subpoints under each one. I'm not asking it for answers- it is only an AI, and we have the Original intelligence- the Word of God. That said, let us begin...
Grok's top question- Does God Exist?
This is both the easiest to answer for me, and yet the hardest. I watched my Mom every morning with her prayer book; I watched my Dad take us to church every week. I grew up in Catholic school; though the details may have been hazy, the question was never in doubt. Getting to know the whys and wherefores was a bit different, because my parents didn't have a good grasp on them. "Are there people on other planets?" little me asked Mom. "No", she said confidently. "How do you know?" I asked. "It's in the Bible," she replied. "Where?" I asked, the question a step too far. "IT JUST IS!" she answered, and I knew she had no idea. I would learn, but that's not the point. Grok gives us 3 angles to look at.
Angle #1: Evidence.
Rom 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth.
Rom 1:19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them.
Rom 1:20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.
Atheists might say this is a cop-out, but it really isn't. One unbreakable rule of science is First Cause: Everything that is, and that happens, must have a cause. You have a penny in your pocket because someone discovered a need of value, another found value in a material. Finding the material might have come from having used a certain rock as a base for a fire. But science can only take you to the Big Bang, and has no way (as yet) to pierce that veil. What is the Big Bang? Short answer: SOMETHING caused a point in space-time to explode into an empty universe. It had to explode at a precise temperature; a ten-millionth of a degree colder and the explosion would have imploded back into a point, too hot and it would have never slowed its expansion to form matter. It was all light and energy at first; after a long/brief while (because time wasn't yet really functioning), it slowed; a translucent universe became opaque, and stars began to form.
Gen 1:1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
Gen 1:2 The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
Gen 1:3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
Gen 1:4 And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness.
Gen 1:5 God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.
V2, the empty universe. V3, the Bang, the universe of light and speed. V4, the slow down, the opaque universe. V5 Time starts.
But what is this about "invisible attributes?" I remember an old B.C. comic strip that addressed this perfectly- but of course it's lost to the mists of time. But Job kind of makes the same point...
Job 12:7 “But ask the beasts, and they will teach you; the birds of the heavens, and they will tell you;
Job 12:8 or the bushes of the earth, and they will teach you; and the fish of the sea will declare to you.
Job 12:9 Who among all these does not know that the hand of the LORD has done this?
Jesus talked about the care God takes of His animals, but science tells us evolution did that. Tell me how the most efficient, pound for pound most powerful, motor ever made is on the back end of a Paramecium? Can evolution truly cause the tiniest thing to be the most complex? This takes us into Angle #2- logical arguments. I think evidence and logic are intertwined, but tell me this: Evolution says that the changes between species is due to random mutations, from which the gene pool "selects" the ones that prove needful. Then how is it that early man from the beginning, even by the lights of science, had developed the conceptual power to believe in something greater than himself, if there wasn't SOMETHING GREATER than himself for it to be beneficial?
Angle #3 was "Grok's perspective": what does Grok think? I told you why I won't go there, but instead, I will give you mine. For me, the evidence and logic would be overwhelming, but the personal experience with a personal Christ puts it way over the top. The things I know He's done for me, things that can't be explained away by "karma", "fate", "dumb luck", or "hormones". Every time I do one of these posts, I am amazed at what and how God teaches me. So why wouldn't EVERYONE believe? Well, that comes down to this:
Jer 29:12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you.
Jer 29:13 You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.
You don't find God trying to get what YOU want. You find Him by seeking HIM. And for those who 'seek' only to prove to themselves there's nothing to find...
2Th 2:11 Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false,
2Th 2:12 in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
Somewhere along the line, your soul makes a choice. Based on that choice, God either leads you towards Himself, or sends you away.
Joh 3:19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil.
Joh 3:20 For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed.
So the big question isn't really "Does God exist?"- but rather, "Do you want to seek Him, or not?"
