I realize this should have been a birthday post, but being old and slow, I just came up with it- I just turned 63 in May. And I wondered how my accomplishments the previous year (AKA when I was 62) stacked up to the great accomplishments by 62 year olds. So....
JRR TOLKEIN published the first of the Ring Trilogy, The Fellowship of the Ring, at the age of 62.
Me: I published 166 blog posts. Some were actually read.
JAMES PARKINSON identified Parkinson's disease at age 62.
Me: I moved my A1C from 7.1 to 7.3.
COLONEL SANDERS started Kentucky Fried Chicken at age 62.
Me: ordered DoorDash 34 times.
TONI MORRISON became the 1st black woman to win a Nobel Prize for literature at age 62.
Me: Discovered I was no longer banned from posting my blogs on Facebook.
ESTELLE GETTY began starring in The Golden Girls at the age of 62.
Me: Watched my 8-year-old grandson outdo me in karaoke. And dancing, for that matter.
BENJAMIN FRANKLIN invented a new phonetic alphabet at age 62.
Me: Stopped arguing with Spell Check.
HERSCHELL McGRIFF Raced in the NASCAR race at Sonoma at age 62. (He blew his engine after 2 laps and finished last...)
Me: Did not blow my engine.
