There's no fun in the news when you read about the flash flood in Texas, where as I type the death toll is at least 78, with scores of them being little girls swept from a Christian summer camp. I have heard horror stories, and stories of heroism in the extreme. Since I can't confirm them, I won't regale you with them. What I will talk about is the joke that is human nature, especially from the 'political' side.
Confirmed: at least one official posted to a social media account that people shouldn't give to help the victims, because they "are white girls, and their people want to deport your families."
Another account, under the name "Mrs Butters", claimed that the people of Texas deserved this. He -yes, he- has been exposed as a one-man- PAC and activist for far left causes.
SEVERAL posters tried to blame the scope of the disaster on the DOGE cuts to staffing at the National Weather Service. Facts are inconvenient to these people. Fact: The cuts do not take effect until NEXT YEAR. Fact: While staffing is down at that particular office, it had nothing to do with how it was handled. On a normal night there, two people man the graveyard shift. That night, with the threat of flooding, there were FIVE. Fact: The first warnings were sent out the afternoon before- plenty of time to evacuate, if you cared to listen.
More facts: The camp was in an area known as "flash-flood alley", and yet, the youngest and most vulnerable campers were based on cabins ON THE RIVER, while the more experienced girls were set up on "Senior's Hill". Does this strike anyone else as stupid? Fact: The county voted down spending money on a $50k flood siren system for the area just 4 years ago.
More facts: One RV park manager stated that in the span of 40 minutes, they were hit with 30 FEET of water. And they got the occupants of all but one RV out safely, one parked on an island. One story: One camper woke up to water "up to her chin". Fact: Sometimes, the disaster is just too big, too fast to lose.
My point: There are some worms out there who are so personally invested in their agenda, so blinded by hate, that they will wish anything on anyone, if it will hurt the ones they hate. I have seen our current President blamed for plane crashes, hurricanes, and now flash floods. I am sick of it. I am sick of people who shoot off their mouths without ever looking into the facts- because the facts wouldn't help "their cause". And I would dearly love to drag some of them by name through the mud.
But that would make me like them. And that's not me.
I'm about to see what my depleted bank account can muster to donate to Samaritan's Purse to help down there. Because there are people hurting. And caring about that is Christ's nature. Too bad there are so many "activists" that have that human nature- Satan's nature. I know most of you will join me in praying for these people, and for those trying to help. I know those of you who don't pray still share concern over this. And while there is something else I WISH I could say... I will say, I am going to pray that the hate-filled and deluded activist trolls will have their heart and souls opened, and make a change.
