Pictures

I have to say it's not an overwhelming lot this week, but it is time to crack a beer so perhaps coherent commentary will spice it up.  We start Wednesday night...

Cloudy, breezy, a bit warm

Misty chooses Groundhog Road

Gooseberries are massive this year

Wow, a new crop of wild strawberries!  A bit of taste, a lot of water

One of my best bee pics ever

"Wanna hunt froggies!"

Nice night for a dip

She's gotten into looking off this view

This was cool later on- the sky looked like an aerial view of a beach

Thursday night...

1900 (7PM) and still daytime

Corner Bunny ran around this corner, stopped when she saw us, Took off just as I hit the button.

Plenty of socceristas still

And I took off my shoes and joined Misty in the river!

Of course, she was ready to get out before me...

Cricket practice

"No froggies, just minnows"

Just then, froggie jumps from edge to middle of the slime patch

Friday night...

New road obstruction up by Big Guy

Mowing the grass by the river

Misty almost dragged me into the Swamp looking at something...

Seconds and a clearing later, I saw a raccoon slip into the woods here

Saturday AM, around 0630...

Sprinklers still going

Prepping for Killdeer soccer

It was a bit brisk- no river, thank you, says Misty

Ah, looks like the sun came up

Yep, thar she blows

Misty sensed something out this way, but we saw nada

We had an impromptu Happy Boofus day- after Misty got her monthly shot.  It's actually one year since she came home from the ER, if'n you can believe that!  She got another walk at the park, a cheeseburger and cup of ice cream at Culvers, and a new toy fish that purports to be a bass, but looks more like a mackerel.

Oh, and just in case you're interested, my daughter was celebrating her birthday early at a local country bar, and sent me pics of the old gang.  I sent her one back (actually Laurie did it for me) as I enjoyed a Three Floyds Munsterfest Marzen...

M10 show week # 130

Dang!  I hope everthin' isn't as slow comin' up as the M10 sign!

No kidding, what was that about?  Anyway, we're back with a regular M10 show, in which we'll feature this week in 1969, play our 1 M10 debut, and share a bit about how the songs of Summer race is going!

Nice!  So what's up first?

Well, to keep you in a good mood, I'll let slip that #1 in Australia this week in 1969 was YOU, with In The Ghetto! It was already #1 on Cashbox, and would make #2 in Canada.

Yay Australia!  We Rock!

And I just thought of another thing to try- I'm going to quickly look up what's #1 in our 3 countries...

Oboy... "Quickly" allus takes a while.

It shouldn't... I merely want to see if I have HEARD any of the three...

And... (Suspenseful music here, if'n you got some...)

Well, all three of us had the same song- I hadn't heard it till now, but it ain't bad!  This is Collins Obinna Chibueze, who for obvious reasons goes by Shaboozy...

*****************************************************

That wuz purty good... an' I see YouTube got their embed thing working again!

Thank the Lord!  Okay, so first, let me tell you the Songs of Summer top ten that is NOT in this week's countdown:

Junior's Farm by Wings and Geowulf's Dolly tied for 8th;
Johnny Cash's Well Alright currently sits 6th;
Tipping my hand as to who lost their spot in this week's 10, Lucius and Go Home is at #5;
Lorde's Take Me To The River sits 4th;
And Rainbow Kitten Surprise is 3rd with Meticulous.

So that means 1, 2, 7, an' 10 are still going!

Correctamundo, Bud!  And just before we play this week's debut, I'll let us in on Canada's top dog this week in '69... Andy Kim's Baby I Love You, which was one week away from its US peak of #6, and was a #15 for Australia.  Maestro, if you please...

Yessir!  One debut this week, it's at #8, and it's new Lake Street Dive...

***************************************************

Nicely done!  Now, let's look at the top five I pulled from this week in 1969...

5- Crosby Stills and Nash, Marrakesh Express.  Sitting at 29 on it's way to a #19 peak, it made 17 in Canada and 27 in Australia.

4- Youngbloods, Get Together.  At #26 on its way to 4 here, it made 6 in Canada and 13 in Australia.

3- The Guess Who, Laughing.  15 on the way to #4, it was a #1 in Canada- no surprise- but a no-show in Australia.  Which is a bit surprising, as it made 19 in New Zealand...

Now here's where I bend my rules on "Must be a song moving up" a bit, for the sheer playing power of these top 2...

2- In The Year 2525, Zager and Evans.  In a fourth week at the top in the US, Canada also had it at the top, and Australia at #2.

And my top song this week- moving down one spot to #3....

Whut's the hold up?

Don't ask me... this week, it seems Blogger's having a meltdown over posting pictures!  Let me try one more time...

...And pfffft!

Maybe it's the old pics' fault.  Let me try a newer one...  Nope, Blogger's picture posting ability just crashed!

Wow, one week it's YouTube... next one, yer back... and now this!

I know- it's a lot like being at work, to be honest.  Anyway...

1- Tommy James and the Shondells, Crystal Blue Persuasion.  Stuck at 2 here, it would get a #1 in Canada, and a whopping #80 in Australia.  Why don't you give the rest of the M10- before Bloggers scheduling function goes belly-up- and don't forget to put in the Songs of Summer standings...

Whut, d'ya think I'm an idjit?  Okay...

10- down five this week, and in the same place on the SOS, Cage The Elephant and Rainbow.

9- Up one fer Lucius, How Loud Your Heart Gets.

7- And leading the SOS parade, Shannon and the Clams and What You're Missing, down 5....

6- up 2 for Orion Sun, Mary Jane.

5- Amira Elfecky and friends, up one with Remains Of Us.

4- Up 3 fer the Linda Lindas, All In My Head.

3- Holdin' here, and 2nd on the SOS, Pierce The Veil an' Karma Police.

2- Haw, you were dozin' here!  This one is tied for 10th on SOS, and up 2 this week- the Heavy Heavy an' Sleeping On Grassy Ground.  Man- Linda Lindas, Heavy Heavy- ah wonder if'n I'd have had more hits going by "Elvis Elvis"?

They already called you "Elvis the Pelvis", I think that probably is close enough...

Maybe so, maybe so...

An' #1 agin this week...

(Pretend yer lookin' at...)

The Decemberists an' Long White Veil!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  They sit # 7 on SOS right now...

Alright, so let's get outta here and hope this schedules right!

Wednesday Bible Study: the Sixth trumpet blown; and the seventh

Rev 9:13  Then the sixth angel blew his trumpet, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar before God,

Rev 9:14  saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, "Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates."

Rev 9:15  So the four angels, who had been prepared for the hour, the day, the month, and the year, were released to kill a third of mankind.

Rev 9:16  The number of mounted troops was twice ten thousand times ten thousand; I heard their number.

Rev 9:17  And this is how I saw the horses in my vision and those who rode them: they wore breastplates the color of fire and of sapphire and of sulfur, and the heads of the horses were like lions' heads, and fire and smoke and sulfur came out of their mouths.

Rev 9:18  By these three plagues a third of mankind was killed, by the fire and smoke and sulfur coming out of their mouths.

Rev 9:19  For the power of the horses is in their mouths and in their tails, for their tails are like serpents with heads, and by means of them they wound.

Rev 9:20  The rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands nor give up worshiping demons and idols of gold and silver and bronze and stone and wood, which cannot see or hear or walk,

Rev 9:21  nor did they repent of their murders or their sorceries or their sexual immorality or their thefts.

In The Late Great Planet Earth, Hal Lindsey got stuck on the number in v16- 200 million, as we write it- and assumed that this was the Chinese Army coming into the picture- but he was a few bowls early.  I just wanted right off the bat to clear that misconception out- this is not an army of men.  Who are they, then? I think there is a clue in v21, but let's go back to the beginning.

a voice from the four horns of the golden altar before God

Okay, we know that the golden altar was the altar of man's prayers for mercy;  horns represent power.  And the voice- the voice of prayers- is no longer calling for mercy.  No, now the prayers are united in calling for judgment.  Remember the great angel from last time?

Rev 10:5  And the angel whom I saw standing on the sea and on the land raised his right hand to heaven

Rev 10:6  and swore by him who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and what is in it, the earth and what is in it, and the sea and what is in it, that there would be no more delay...

And so, the judgments that no man could stand against were about to begin.  The first of those was the release of these angels, bound at the Euphrates.

Release the four angels

Who were these angels?  Perhaps we know.  Look here in Daniel:

Dan 10:20  Then he said, "Do you know why I have come to you? But now I will return to fight against the prince of Persia; and when I go out, behold, the prince of Greece will come.

Daniel had had a vision of these same times, and he prayed for 30 days for explanation.  At length, the angel Gabriel came to him, explaining that the "Prince of Persia" had delayed him, and he couldn't proceed till the Protector of Israel- the angel Michael- took up this battle.  Thus, we know that this "prince" was in fact an evil angel given charge over Persia- and he would have to go back and help Michael defeat him, because the "Prince of Greece" was coming.  We also know that in Nebuchadnezzar's dream, he saw four kingdoms coming in succession- Babylon (which had fallen by then), Persia, Greece (Alexander the Great's kingdom), and Rome.  Might it be that, as they fell, their angels were bound?  Keep in mind:  Babylon fell by the lowering of the Euphrates; after Alexander defeated Darius for the last time, he then came down and took Babylon; Babylon was where Alexander died, and his kingdom split; and Rome suffered its most humiliating defeat near the Euphrates at Carrhae.  All four of those angels MIGHT have been bound then; we don't know.

who had been prepared for the hour, the day, the month, and the year

Why the exactness, and again when the number of the horsemen ( I heard their number...)?  I believe this is what I mentioned last time:  The remaining Jews are searching for answers, and they are finding them in Daniel and Revelation (and who knows? Maybe one day they'll read my blog?)  They are beginning to see God- a God they ignored so long while He showed His mercy- in His wrath.

were released to kill a third of mankind

So the last time we took a census (and adjusted it to today's population estimates), we saw a population of 10 billion cut by a quarter, 2 billion people.  And during the last trumpet, NONE could die, though they wanted to.  That restriction is lifted, and another 2.3 billion die in this judgment, cutting the world down to about 5.7 billion.  This is a terrible judgment; but what is it?

By these three plagues a third of mankind was killed, by the fire and smoke and sulfur coming out of their mouths

We might speculate, this sounds like an army with tanks; and maybe it is.  But after what we learned about the locusts a few weeks ago, and the fact that they are led by angels, I'm going to say they are demonic in nature.  Demon horses, ridden by 200 million... what?  WE HAVE NO IDEA, and maybe their identity is bound up in the silence of the seven thunders.  It strikes me that our only real clue lies in v20...

The rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent

If you will note, this and v21 are a LIST of the crimes that mankind is still committing, even after the slaughter; and John puts great detail into they fact that they were WORSHIPING IDOLS.  So my thought is: God said, you want to worship demons? SEE what you worship!  A demonic horde, including the demons that man has worshiped throughout time- Baal, Milcom, Odin, Zeus, etc.- and man gets a taste of that which he worships.

The studier of Norse Mythology in me says, 'and might these not be inhabiting the dead bodies of the soldiery of Babylon, Persia, Greece, and Rome- brought back to a terrifying false life by these demons?'  But, that is idle speculation.  What we do know is just this: There are 200 million of them, they wield fire, sulphur, and smoke, they are led by 4 angels, and they kill over 2 billion people.

But now, the second woe has passed, and the third is to come- the seven bowl judgments.  And like the seal judgments ended with reflection in heaven (there was silence for half an hour), so too, the seventh trumpet:

Rev 11:15  Then the seventh angel blew his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, "The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he shall reign forever and ever."
Rev 11:16  And the twenty-four elders who sit on their thrones before God fell on their faces and worshiped God,
Rev 11:17  saying, "We give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty, who is and who was, for you have taken your great power and begun to reign.
Rev 11:18  The nations raged, but your wrath came, and the time for the dead to be judged, and for rewarding your servants, the prophets and saints, and those who fear your name, both small and great, and for destroying the destroyers of the earth."
Rev 11:19  Then God's temple in heaven was opened,. There were flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, an earthquake, and heavy hail.

The seventh trumpet, like the seventh seal, gives a look at Heaven at the end of judgment.  Just one thing I'm going to note here:

and the ark of his covenant was seen within his temple

The Ark was the symbol of God-with-Man, and had not been seen anywhere since Jerusalem fell to Nebuchadnezzar.  But now it re-appears in heaven- a sign of hope to the Jews who remain and still seek God.  God's temple in Heaven, opened for all to see!  But most will still choose sin and defiance.

Next:  The History of the Whole World, God's perspective- no kidding!

That was a walk?

So after a week of lower back pain that kept me from trying to get out with the Misty Bug, we finally went out Sunday morning.   Mind you, it's like 7 AM, our bedroom always gets hot being upstairs so I'm sticky and stinky and Misty is panting and ready to go; we come down and Laurie announces she's under the weather and calling off work; get 90% ready and have to go back to the bathroom (Not mainly because I left my glasses up there)... needless to say, I'm not expecting much from this walk, and it's just what I get.

So we get outside and my camera is acting up.  Turns on, take a pic if yer quick, and get, "For use with compatible batteries" and it shuts off.  Mind you, this is a road I've walked before; in the winter, after a certain temperature drop, it would do this, and I assume it was because the temp changed the size/shape of the battery, and usually sticking a piece of cardboard in with the battery solved it.  However #1: This past winter, for whatever reason, it NEVER did this.  However #2:  This AIN'T winter.  It's 75F with 90% humidity (and my eyes tell me a fair amount of pollen), so I have no idea why it did this.  I tried every which way to solve the problem...

...including, as you see above, belting it a good one.  No help.  If I was going to take pictures, they would have to be fast ones.  So I'm mad, Misty's scared, and the trail is full of folks who like me are trying (and failing) to beat the worst of the 'muggy-meter'.

Time to stick the stupid thing back in my pocket and talk to God.  Reminding myself I know from Job what trying to blame my attitude on anything but myself gets me.  I calm, we go on.

It wasn't a big loss; only scattered birds and humans who wanted to sweat anyway were out and about.

Both my shoes came untied during the jaunt; when I bent to tie the second one, I noticed I had two dead gnats stuck in the sweat on my shin.  That's how miserable it was.

At least the river had enough motion for Misty to get a decent drink; Lord knows the air sure didn't.

Misty was a bit miffed at me for turning right at Squirrel Corner and heading back, but there was no way I was going from open spaces and no air to the woods and, "Give us your oxygen, or we will suck your blood."  She was dragging enough herself to get over it.

She did get one treat, seeing her friend Oreo.  I didn't attempt a picture there, because a) by the time I got a good shot, I would have gotten, "For use with etc etc" and had to explain it to Oreo's dad, and b) Oreo's dad has one arm and I don't know if he'd be comfortable with a picture.

Apparently this outfit called the FW HopSpot Crew had a fundraiser at the Plex yesterday.  Car show/hip hop concert.  We were either hiding in the AC or gone most of yesterday, so I knew not a thing.

So one thing that yesterday involved, ended up getting me and Misty a new mattress and box for our bed.  Now this salesman knew how to hit all my personal escape buttons, and I was getting uncomfortable.  He first took me to a very very soft bed with gadgets to move it up and down.  I don't want gadgets, I don't want extreme soft.  He tried the comfort approach, tried the 'better for your health' approach.  Took a couple minutes to convince him that my bed was a twin, because "No one buys them anymore".  I was just about to climb out of my skin when Laurie got him distracted long enough for me to wander off on my own (the way I like it), find three beds that were sufficiently firm for me, with no gadgets.  I went back and took them to choice #1, saying, "This is what I'm talking about."

He says, "They don't make this in a twin. Because nobody buys them anymore."

I took him to second choice, saying, "This isn't quite so good, but I could deal with it."

He says, "I don't think we have this in a twin, because... oh, wait: yes, yes we do have it in a twin."

So we will be getting a new mattress and a lower profile box.  Misty won't be happy, because our current high profile lets her lay down with her chin on the window sill, but on the other hand, we'll both be grateful that it won't be as hard to get into the darn thing.  Maybe we'll get her a doggie pillow for her end; odds are she won't use it anyway.
