M10 show week 29

Elvis:  So I see you switched the rules again...

Just a little bit, you'll survive!  But we have a lot of business here today, including 3 debuts- 2 of them springing from the Knocks feature from last week!   And the first one is that alt chart #1 for the Cannons!  Here's Michelle Joy and the band from 2019, debuting at #10...

******************************************************

So what our Big Buddy was alluding to is that I made an executive decision...

That means the rest of us weren't consulted...

That rather than the way I planned to continue our #1s of the summer- using the early 1950's- I'd skip them and do 60's-70's-80's until we rejoin the Martin Era 2.0 in 1956.  So, Mr. Tempest-in-a-teapot, how about you do the 0's this week?

All righty... so this week in 1960, the Everly Brothers- them again? were tops for the last of 5 weeks with Cathy's Clown...

I KNOW what you're about to say- skip the clown jokes and move on...

Fine, spoilsport.  1970 this week was- durn it!- the Beatles with first of 2 weeks fer The Long And Winding Road...

...an' in 1980, some outfit called Lipps, Inc., with Funky Town, 3rd week of 5...

Ick!  Never liked that song.

Somebody did, 5 weeks...

On Cashbox... in a rare bit of Billboard favoritism for me, it only held off Paul McCartney's live Coming Up for 3 weeks of 4, then Paul held the top for 3 of his own. Anyway, here's the second of those Knocks-spawned debutsat #8 from 2017 for Absofacto...

********************************************************

Okay, you want the ones, or the M10?

Ah'll take the 1's, it's less work....

1961 this week, Rick Nelson and Travellin' Man, 2nd week of three....

1971, the Honey Cone an' Want Ads, 2nd of 2...

...an' in 1981 this week, Kim Carnes an' Bette Davis Eyes, 3rd week of 3.  Any further icks?

Not on that list!  Just so you don't feel left out, why don't you intro the 3rd debut?

Sure! The boss was lissenin' ta that old Jayhawks lp, Tomorrow The Green Grass, again, and he heard another one to put on the chart!  Comin' in at #7, from 1995....

*************************************************

Okay, and the rest of the M10...

The aforementioned Knocks are stuck at 9 for a second week, with Cold War Kids and Nobody But Me.

Back up one to 6 for Melody's Echo Chamber and Personal Message.

The Knocks and Cannons slip 2 to #5 with Real Life.

Hazel English and Day Wave up 2 to 4 with All Dressed Up.

Also two notches up for Built To Spill with Understood at #3.

Sunflower Bean slips from the top with In Flight.

Which means the new #1 is....

 ...Camera Obscura and Making Money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's it for this week!
