Time Machine co-ordinates VICLVIII6419464

Uhm, sir, there's a problem with the guests...

AGAIN?  Now what?

Well, in my defense, sir, it wasn't exactly my fault... let me play the minutes of our meeting yesterday, where you told me who to get...

(Recording comes on.  You can hear Chris, but also a lot of background noise...)

What is that muttering and giggling?

Sir, I was trying to listen, but Mr Presley was trying to tell me a joke at the same time...

EP: Man, that joke was burnt!  You see, there's this...

I don't want to hear the joke!  How is this exonerating you, Nardole?

Listen to the tape...

C: So this week... where'd I put my notes from last time... you'll need to get... um... Oh, hell, the Angels..  (Mumbles and giggles covering some of this)

N:  Hell- Angels.  Got it.  I think...

And that's how it happened.

You got the Hell's Angels, didn't you?  Where are they?

Well, let me play this next clip, sir... (tape starts)

(LOUD BELCH)

N:  Good heavens... er, aren't you supposed to be a musical act?

Biggest biker:  We can be... hit it, Ratso!   Mumble mumble mutter... HEAD OUT ON THE HIGHWAY!  (loud crash, tape ends)

What in...

Er, the 'singer', if only loosely, was subsequently hit over the head with a guitar by, er, 'Ratso'...

HB:  Fortunately, sir, I was arriving at this moment, and convinced them that free beer awaited through the portal from which they came... and then slammed the door shut.

Good job, Horace!  So, seeings as this was basically your fault, MR PRESLEY...

I know, I know, I gotta do the show...

No, actually you'll be reviewing tape of the Beatles' songs on this week's chart...

Aw, c'mon!  Not that!

But wait, it gets better!  Being 1964, there are four songs on this week's Cashbox chart for September 4th, 1964, by the Beatles- and 3 of them are NOT among the FOUR tunes they have on the Panel... so you have 7 songs to go listen to!

Dadgum it, this ain't right....

In the meantime, let's kick things off with our first debut!  This is kind of a tribute to the Matt Foley character that the late Chris Farley made famous... from 2019, the first M10 hit, at #10, for Saintseneca....

******************************************

So this week was a rather scattered affair for the Panel.  Two songs are a week away from their hot 100 debut- one of those Beatles records, with both sides- Slowdown and If I Fell- getting votes; another one, I Should Have Known Better, peaked a month ago; one song- the Blendells with La La La La La- was bubbling under at #115; and one of the finalists debuted this week at #97!  I think you might understand why when you see what song it is!  The finalists, for your guessing pleasure, are:

At #3 on CB this week, the Animals and House Of The Rising Sun...
At #10, the Newbeats and Bread And Butter...
At #4, the next Beatles song, A Hard Day's Night...
At the top, the Supremes with Where Did Our Love Go...
...and that debut at #97, J Frank Wilson and the Cavaliers with Last Kiss!

Since we've come this far, I'll go ahead and mention that the three charting Beatles songs that didn't get Panel votes this week were And I Love Her at #14, Ain't She Sweet at #16, and I'll Cry Instead at #26.
