What happened to vacation?

Well, rain.  After a second post sunset walk (in which we saw two deer, but two dark to bother taking the camera along), we got the joy of 36 hours of, "Let's see Noah build that ark now!".  The amusing part of this was NOAA's timing; at 230 AM Tuesday 5th, they sounded the Thunderstorm Watch alarm, lasting till 7 AM.  Then at 4 AM, it was the Thunderstorm Warning, ending at 430.  The thunderstorm hit at about 4:32, and it was mainly a bluff; the real fireworks struck right after the Watch expired around 7. We were pounded most all day, then we got a pause about mid-afternoon.  Around 830 PM, Misty and I took out the trash in a light rain and enormous humidity; when we came in, the alarms were sounding again-first a Thunderstorm Warning, and then a Flash Flood right after.  This time, it was high winds and some lightning, followed by our TV (and nothing else) briefly going out, followed by "The windows of Heaven were opened".  Our immediate area got upwards of 9 inches of rain in these 36 hours; Laurie tried to avoid the high water on her usual route by going the wrong way; her Angel managed to help her miss real disaster and getting home safely.

In the morning, after managing to swim the car down that same route to take it to the shop, Misty and I took a brief excursion to check out any damage.  Tonight, we just got back from a more complete, and a couple inches less wet, tour of the area.

Mostly leaves and twigs- giving the impression of a minor warzone

Early on, humidity already bugging Misty

Until she saw something go hide in the rocks of the bridge

With one big exception, this was the biggest damage

Nice to see water in the canal again

Back and expanded, our waterfall

Water returns to the Swamp- and so, too, the geese

So, for most of the trip, we heard what sounded like the biggest invisible lawn mower ever made.  It turned out to be this

Good look at how high the river

Dude had the Presidential Seal on the back...

Saw one, shot two

Stony Run running again

Erosion

Oho, here's some damage

And there's the big tree that fell and sheared off half the little one
