M10 Show week # 121

I am highly distracted this week, due to a)hungry and rent coming up, so no ordering; b) OU is trying to destroy Duke in the first game of the Women's College World Series, so I'm gonna be a bit brief but hopefully fun.  One thing that will speed things up is that there is but one debut, at #10, and it's new Lake Street Dive:

***************************************************

Not so distracted that I didn't put together a look at target year 1976.  In Canada, the top song is Henry Gross's Shannon, a top 30 all time for me, sitting at 5 on Cashbox (where it peaked), and stopping at #20 in Australia.  Here it's Wings and Silly Love Songs, again a #1 in Canada, and oddly enough, again a #20 in Australia.  In Australia, ABBA-mania continues unabated, with Fernando in its 9th of 14 weeks at the top, yow!  It was a 7 peak in Canada and 13 here on CB.

My top five was tough, because (Here comes another a-b) a) I wasn't doing a top ten at that time, so I'm not rebuilding from memory anymore; and b) there might be a dozen of my all-timers on this chart! But this is what I decided on...

5- Happy Days, Pratt and McLain.  The theme from the tv show, it moved from 7 to 6, where it peaked.  Canada moved it to #3, and Australia- you guessed it- #20.

4- Sara Smile, Hall and Oates.  Moving from 12-10 this week, it would stop at 4 here, 22 in Canada, but somehow never got to Australia.

3- Moonlight Feels Right, Starbuck.  From 30 to 23 this week on CB, where it would peak at 2.  Canada had it at 3, Australia almost made it 4 of 'em with a peak of 25.

2- Rhiannon, Fleetwood Mac.  Moving from 11 to its peak of 9 this week, it was 4 in Canada, 13 in Australia, who is having a very good week by me.

And my #1?  Come on, folks...

1. Shannon, Henry Gross.  You know about here and Canada... Australia confers yet another #20 on this one!

While you puzzle on Australia setting our #20 record, here's the top ten....

9- Real Or Magic, Shannon and the Clams, down 3 in week #8.

8- He Loves Us Both by Lila Ike and H.E.R., holding.

7- 10 weeks on for Kacey Musgraves and Cardinal, which pulls into #8 all time.

6- Up 3 for Pale Saints and Kinky Love.

5- Down a spot for PDM and Honey Boy.

4- Up 3 for Rainbow Kitten Surprise and Meticulous.

3- Up 2 for the bootleg Juniors Farm by Wings.

2- Lorde up one with Take Me To The River.

And the top tune this week...

...a second week for Real Estate and Somebody New- giving them the first week lead in the Songs of Summer!

  1. Ok this week I have sound but the clip took so long to load I was just about to give up when it played, not a song I have heard before but it was ok.
